I'm looking for a self guided, free range mule deer hunt (rifle) in west Texas this fall and based on my research it will be best if I pay access rights to hunt privately owned land. So, I'm wondering who out there offers self guided hunts on their ranches and what are the success rates (if known)?
I would like to keep my budget below $1,500 if possible and I'm not looking for any record book deer, or even a buck for that matter. I'm just looking for a good spot and stalk hunting experience with plenty of animals to chose from.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Plenty of animals and a budget for $1500 is going to be hard to come by. You pay for what you get specially when it comes to mule deer. I offer self guided mule deer hunts in far war west Texas but right now lowest I have is $2500.
If you do find a place within your budget make sure you do your research and ask for recent references. Some counties have doe season for archery only that may be something to look into.

It would be highly recommended to spend the extra and book a hunt with Mike. You wouldn’t regret it.

I was looking at your website yesterday mulie_mike, and it looked very intriguing with great results. I might just need to up my monthly "hunt fund" contributions since my expectations might have been a little high and I am unable to find what I am looking for at the price I was hoping for. Based on what I have seen, I way under budgeted the anticipated hunt. I appreciate the feedback guys, thanks.
By plenty of animals to chose from, I was primarily referring to does.

By plenty of animals to chose from, I was primarily referring to does. Most mule deer hunts i have been on you dont see large #s of deer. Ive hunted them in several states and mexico and my experince is you have to cover alot of ground to find them and most states dont offer doe tags. Thats part if the reason the hunts are expensive.
