 How much for a whitetail cape?

I shot a pretty good buck for my area last weekend (MLD lease). I decided just to do a skull mount at the time, so I didn't save the cape. Now looking back on it, I am regretting not getting a shoulder mount. I know some taxidermists will keep spare capes, or can get them. Can yall give me an idea of what a new cape would cost? Not sure what size cape I would need. I shot him post rut and he weighed around 135, but looks like he lost a lot of weight since I saw him on camera during rut.

Depends. I have been quoted close to $100 and up depending on size of neck. My taxi that I use charges only $50. He even gave my brother a cape on a buck that had a lot of tick damage.

I had a big eight mounted that was previously a euro mount, Taxi charged $100 for the cape...

Price will vary if the cape is frozen and not tanned versus tanned. Your best bet is to find a taxidermist who does really good work (the one you want to mount your deer) and let him get you the cape. He may have one in the freezer and if he is doing the work the cost to mount the deer and provide you the cape would probably be like $50 over a regular shoulder mount.
