With duck season over, time to think about dove season.

Buddy of mine has 20 plus acres and wants to plant sunflowers.

1. What does he need to do to prepare the soil?
2. What are good sunflowers to plant?
3. Can he hunt over the field this coming season?
4. If so, does he leave the sunflowers up or cut them down?

Soil test, add whats needed, spray, disc, spray, seed, disc.

Black oil sunflowers or natives.

Yes

Yes, cut strips through them, start about 20' wide mid August, add 15' a week before opening day and cut another 10-15 feet wider 2-3 weeks after the opener.
