Building my wife a semi budget custom 10/22 for her birthday next month. It’s not a surprise as I let her help pick out parts. She really wanted a pink stock, so I found the coolest one I could find. Boyd’s at-one with the adjustable LOP and cheek weld. It’s dark pink and grey laminate, actually looks pretty cool. So build is as follows.

Brand new 10/22 carbine from academy (on sale this week $189) online only free ship to store
Boyd’s at-one stock
BX-trigger replacement
Green mountain 16.5” Black fluted .920” barrel

Rifle comes with a weaver base, and I have a leapers AO scope with illuminated mildot reticle that will go on top.

She initially was wanting a M&P 15-22, but I wanted her to have a 10/22 since aftermarket parts are everywhere. We started looking at the 10/22 chassis systems out there that would give her all their ergonomics of an AR with the reliability of the Ruger. Those all looked cheap and the action sat inside of the shell and I expected poor accuracy based on the designs. Showed her the Boyd’s stock and she loved it. Then I realized I could get a green mountain barrel for less than $150 and I told her I was going to go all on in the rifle and she said go for it.

I’m guessing that in 3 or 4 months I’ll have a matching rifle in a different color.

Should have it put together just in time for her birthday on the 6th.

I’ll post pics once it’s put together.

I don’t think she realized I already pretty much had this build planned for myself, I picked out parts in less than 20 minutes lol.

The trigger and the barrel were the semi budget options. By all accounts the green mountains are TOP-NOTCH and the reviews of the BX trigger compare favorably to the kidd triggers and I got this one from CDNN for $70 shipped.

I think you got it just right. She’ll be pleased.

Well played. They are fun to shoot. I built mine very similar and am very pleased.
