http://www.jamescalhoon.com/he makes 3 different flavors 1 based on a 22 hornet case , 1 based on a 30 carbine case , and 1 based on a necked down 223 case 4000+fps Calhoon was attracted to the potential of the .19 caliber for the same reasons the British were - high sectional densities, ballistic coefficients comparable to .22 calibers and velocities equaling those of the .220 Swift with lower recoil, less muzzle blast and longer barrel life. The .19-223 Calhoon is nothing less than the .223 case necked-down to .19 caliber, and fire-formed with a 30 degree shoulder. Case preparation is straightforward and simple, and is achieved by the full-length resizing of a .223 case in a Bonanza BR die, and then fire-forming. The second cartridge Calhoon developed around his .19 caliber bullets is the .19 Calhoon, based on the .22 Hornet case. Case preparation is similar to that of the .19-223 , and the result is a sharp looking, improved Hornet case with a 30-degree shoulder. The new 19 BADGER is a result of field testing the 19 Calhoon (Hornet) and 19-223. Our minimizing approach to varminting, as John Anderson of Varmint Hunter Magazine calls it, resulted in this new, finely tuned, varmint cartridge. The 19 BADGER is a compact, powerful cartridge with a mere overall 1.3" length, built on a strong rimless case. The 19 BADGER maintains a powder capacity of 18 grains in a column of less than 1 inch. Even with a 25% increase in powder capacity over the "sweet shooting" little 19 Calhoon (Hornet), the 19 BADGER has the same minimal recoil that is so critical to good varminting, allowing you to see your hit time after time. The 19 BADGER provides a comfortable 300 yard range and velocities of 3725 with a 28gr bullet and 3550 with the 32gr.

Calhoon makes some interesting cartridges and rifles to shoot them in. They also did or do bolt handle modifications for the CZ527 to allow a scope to be mounted a little closer to the bore than the original design
