I have AT&T Uverse TV & Internet at the house and Direct TV at the farm. Also have AT&T home phone and three cell phones.

Those of you in the know......what can I do to save some money?

I don't think you can..I have ATT cable and internet, no land line

Options are playstation vue, youtube tv, sling tv, direct tv now. All streaming services.

I switched from UVerse Cable/Internet to Direct TV/Internet a few months back and went from $280 to $167.

I refused to pay hughes net or direct tv where we're at and cable isn't an option.

We stayed on a $50 walmart antenna for 2 years.

Recently though T-Mobile offered us an upgrade to T-Mobile One. Previously we had unlimited data on the phones and a 14gb hotspot for the computers. The cell plan is our only means of internet.

With the T-Mobile One plan we upgraded to unlimited everything, including unlimited hotspot. T-Mobile also gave us Netflix for free.

We added SlingTv with a couple of channel packages and our TV bill is $35ish per month.

The cell bill actually went down about $15, then we both bought new phones and kicked it back up to 190ish.

Once the phones are paid for, the cell bill is $120 or $140, I forget exactly.



I'm looking at HuluLive now as a replacement for Sling. Sling is ok, and has all I want to watch, but Hulu seems to have the same selection with a bunch of free extra features.


Edit to add, all we had to buy was a Roku for the Tv's. The google chrome stick or amazon thing would have worked as well. But the Roku's were on clearance for less than $20 each.

Stop watching TV.. or get an antenna for locals stations.

Is there a way to get Direct TV at both places for a reduced rate?

Get a Tracfone.

If you have a sat antenna at both locations you can take your box back and forth. Other than that I believe you have to pay for two boxes.

If you have good cell signal or wifi at your ranch there is a hook up you can buy for your tv that hooks up to the phone. So you can stream DirectTV/Uverese from your phone onto the tv. My buddy has one for the iphone and its how we watches tv when he uses his camper.

Yes, get a pair of Rokus and internet at both places and TV's that have HDMI connections. I did that at our two paces.

Roku or firestick. I haven't tried it yet, but I think at a hunting/fishing cabin I would go with sling ala carte so you only pay for what you want to watch.

If you only have satellite at a location, what are the options? Unlimited wifi, still gets severely throttled after like 10g's. I assume Roku and fire stick all use internet thru wifi? That is our problem here, antenna is out unless I put in a 300' tower to get out of this draw


tbar, idk if Direct tv has this option, but I have DISH, same service in my camper no matter where I go, cost $7 extra a month and the added one time cost of the box and tailgater auto antenna I got on sale. I can watch the world news before elk hunting in Colorado, or whatever programing we have at the time. I understand they also have a plan (extra) to get local channels wherever you are. If I had a lease, I'd consider a tailgator type set up.

Rabbit ears. No I'm not kidding. I refuse to pay big money to watch commercials. They should pay us. At my FILs house, we watch commercials constantly. 5 minutes of programming and 5 minutes of ads. It's ridiculous.

Seems we have tried them all, direct, even that crap hughes net, finally ended up with a 60' tower and a hd antenna, pretty good, however, got a no service on screen, checked everything bottom
end, remember ..60' to the next end, stright up,,,tower guy came out, remark (After a hefty pay) must be the lower stuff, ok, replace ALL the lower ends, DITTO, same ol No Service on the screen, Called the antenna guy, will replace after I pull the antenna down and have them advise as to problem, lets see now, thats at least three more tower trips up , Damnd its almost cheaper to pay the pirates fee .

Cable is so ‘80’s. All us cool folks stream.

Ours is $190 a month for the TV and internet with Dish. I have a cricket phone which is $30 per month. All this money talk is based on. Do you need it? Do you enjoy it? Can you afford it? Do you still have enough left after paying the bill to buy a few beers? Enjoy life. You never know when it ends.

I cut the cord permanently this past Monday.

I get 53 crystal clear DFW channels, for free!

We stream Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Hulu through an Xbox.

Explain 53 DFw channels. I can count 4,5,8,11,21,23,27,39,52. I can only think of about 10 max.
