If I go VX-5 I will be getting the 3-15. VX-6 will be the 2-12. The new erector system and zero stop are getting good reviews. For those who have studied on this which scope and why. I will be buying from SWFA in store tomorrow.
This will be going on a LH T3 Hunter in 6.5x55 in Talley LW. A strictly hunting rifle that may see some long range speed goats.
I am open to suggestions outside of these two and have saw the recent bad press on Leupold. For my “hunting” needs I feel like this is my market.
Are our THF discount codes still a thing. I’ve been out I the loop for a couple of years.

I know almost nothing about those scopes, but as for the THF discount codes, I believe they will honor them if you call in or if you go in store and ask, but the website wasn't accepting them last time I checked.
Good luck - I'm sure either will be fine.

There has been a lot of noise about the crosshairs failing on the VX-3s. They’ve always been know not to track well unless you get the Mk6 or 8

Not sure the 5 has it. I don’t have enough information to speak on the subject. That’s some of what I’m looking for here.

I have the VX5 HD 3-15x44 on a 7MM LRM and really enjoy it.
I had looked at Burris, Vortex, Huskemaw and even another Nightforce for the 7MM LRM. This rifle had previously used a Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x50 and a Huskemaw 5-20x50. I wanted a lighter scope with a solid zero stop, capped windage and as simple a reticle as possible that would allow wind holds. In this price range the Leupold was really the only one I could find. I wasn’t looking for an illuminated reticle or electronic level and wanted the objective to be smaller to allow mounting in lower rings so I chose the the VX5 over the VX6.
I really like the locking zero stop that also has an indicator for which rotation the turret is on. The 38 minutes of dial up available with the zero stop will let me dial to over 1300 yards and the 15x magnification while not ideal for long range is more than enough for a hunting rifle that gets used for long range practice. When I tested the accuracy of the erector I found less than 0.9% error at 38 minutes. This is more accurate than any Vortex I had tested and right in line with the Nightforce.
For the money the Leupold is hard to beat.

Ritter thank you for the feedback. Your tracking information is exactly what I was looking for if I chose the 5.

Both SOLID lightweight scopes. sounds like a perfect rig.
as long as you are spending $$ look at the Swarovski z5-Z6 scopes, Awesome glass and very lightweight.
order online from Europtics or sport optics, free shipping and no tax.

I guess I’m putting myself into a market where I should look around a little more. I like doing business at SWFA because I can put my hands in the glass before I buy it. They’ve always been helpful and patient with me and I’ve yet to be able to get a better price elsewhere when the THF code is applied.

And will the swaros track? Haven’t heard much on them. I was looking at the kahles but can’t bring myself to that price point. Last time I walked in to buy a kahles 624i I left with a 5-20 SS. Lol, couldn’t do it.

Stepped out there and got the VX-6 HD 3-18x44
I have no idea how functional the turrets are in use but I like em!
