I inherited the ones on the right from my dad when he passed but never take them out of my safe because I am afraid I would lose them. So I started looking online to see if I could find another set. Found some on eBay but they weren't in very good shape. I somehow came across the Case knife online factory outlet store and they had the ones on the left (been discontinued for years) so I bought them. Very sturdy shears. Best I've owned.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

I have a pair of the Case shears like your dad left you. Got them back in the seventies. They have served me well.

I have several pair. My oldest is like the ones on the right. They don't seem to work as well as they once did.

Those are awesome!!! my bro and I were just talking about how the gear keeps changing...like the gloves and clothes. We have agreed some things are better the old way...like leather gloves, old school game bags, old school lanyards, knives, hats and so on..sheers is another one.

Great info! I've been looking for a good pair to gift to my sons (and myself).
Grateful for every sunrise and sunset I get to witness. - Jason

I start by cutting off the wings and lower legs. It's important to leave the head attached. There you have a whole skinned quail. Next, you pull the leg over the back, and pull the legs off one at a time. It's best to pull from the front to the back. Here you have a whole quail with the legs and thighs removed and in the pan. You could see that I had the quail by the head with my right hand. Just pull the head and neck off and the intestines come with it.. You can see that I have the breast in one hand and the head with the backbone and guts in the other hand. Notice that my hands are still clean I've done them every other way that's known, but this has always worked best for me. I can do them as fast as a helper can clip the wings and feet.

cool ill try that. I do the a little different. I was taught to gut them asap cause their guts can spoil the bird. We use bird hooks in the field to extract. Takes a little practice but gutting them is quick and easy...just don't do it around your dogs
