Anyone gone on a Texas Nilgai hunt before? I’ve been reading on it and now infatuated. Would love to hunt a bull or cow in the spring after whitetail season is over! Please let me know if there are any reputable guides!

Yes, it's a blast and they are impressive on the hoof. Pierce Trophy Hunts posts here and gets great reviews. I've hunted with Doubleshot Outfitters with great success. The rut is probably going on now or soon but you can book hunts whenever. I would think they wouldn't want to hunt cows while pregnant.

I have hunted them many times. Usually on the Mariposa ranch in Falfuras. Great hunting and extremely addictive!!! It is probably my favorite type of hunting that I wish I could do more of. I am going in March on another hunt down in the valley with a different outfitter. He hunts at night with thermals!

Great animals to hunt, always exciting to say the least. I do still have availabilities in the spring and would love to have you hunt with us. Here is one we killed 2 days ago. You can check out my website for other recent bulls we’ve taken. These are all free range, walk and stalk hunts. www.piercetrophyhunts.com...well, nevermind, the picture won’t download. It’s on the Pierce Trophy Hunts Facebook page if interested.

Go with Doubleshot and you won’t be disappointed. I hunt with them at least 4 or 5 times each year.

Just returned from hunting them in south Texas. Was a private ranch but we had a guide. Toughest animal I’ve ever seen. Shot placement is critical. Shot a bull they said could break some records, guide said I hit him good, and we searched for hours without finding him. Sitting here hoping they find him in the next few days as I’d like the head, though I really wanted the meat too. Did bring a cow home and glad to have a full freezer.

I used to hunt them every year back in my younger days of not many bills and no extra mouths to feed. We always had a blast, and the meat is great. Back then you could go on the king ranch through a sub lessor for 75 bucks a day. They showed you the area you were allowed to hunt and said have fun, no guides. I wish there still opportunities like that available.

We are near the Raymondville area. A few of my hunters for next week had to reschedule so I have an opening next Wed-Saturday. First opening we’ve had in several months and the hunting is phenomenal right now, best it’s been in a very long time. Let me know if anyone’s interested...you will get your bulls.
