Haven't been hearing much from the few guys left operating in that area this year...the drought really hurt the goose numbers in that area and the geese started coming back last year, but still not great numbers.
From what little I have heard and seen, the goose hunting is ok, but not phenomenal like 10+yrs ago.

Hunted up around that area on sunday with Ranger Creek and shot an 11 man limit of geese + about 5 snows and 10 ducks in 1 hour.

No matter how high a duck flies a hammer still breaks a window.

This year, it has been 100 years with the least amount of wheat planted in the US. Lots of cotton nowadays.

Does Tanger Creek still hunt geese on those large lakes? I remember we got to actually sleep until about 9am and go set up on these lakes where the geese would come back to from feeding in the fields in the morning. The sleeping late and putting out only about 30 Goose floaters made it a really easy hunt.

We were hunting in Knox City about 6 weeks ago. 7 people in our group and we only shot one. We did see about 5000 geese fly over our field. One interesting thing about the hunt was everyone in the group got a shovel and had to dig a hole in the field to lay in. Covered ourselves during the hunt with plywood and dirt. After the hunt, we had to fill the holes back in with dirt.
