I’ve taught one of the local kids (tennis student) to reload. He shoots the subject line rifle caliber and bullet. He had run out of ammo, so came over yesterday to restock. The kid shoots a lot of big hogs, so I asked him how tha Accubond was working and did he get exits. He said he always gets an exit, and that they rarely run after being shot. He shoots them in the shoulder, or tries to, as he said.

The load pushes the bullet about 3000 FPS.

For comparison sake, I never get exits on the hogs, using my 260 and 120 gr Nosler BTs, though they do die fairly quickly...usually.

Currently have 165 grain accubonds loaded in my 300 wby, load data suggests they are going about 3100 fps. Shoot ok but have yet to shoot something with them.

When I break out my .300Wby its usually if I'm facing long shots, that's why I went with 180gr Nosler BT's - They are accurate but they are not so tough that failure to expand is an issue.

I shot a 220lbs buck at 328yds and hit it square in the middle of the shoulder blade; he ran less than 50yds and from the outside I could see a nickel sized exit wound, but when the hide was pulled back the exit wound was the size of a baseball.

Now that was years ago and since then they increased the thickness of the Jacket on the .308dia 180gr. BT's and for longer shots they are a great choice for deer.... and I usually shoot hogs in the head so yeah they work too.

Is that a slow node? It should be pushing a lot faster than 3100 out of the Weatherby 300 Mag with a 165 AB. Out of my 300 Winnie with a 180 Accubond, I clocked 3,175 fps off the chrono. It's .6 grains under max with a 26 inch barrel.
That bugs me why the Bee is slower.

As for the OP, you should be getting over 3,100 easy. The Magnums tend to shoot more accurately the faster you push it closer to max, especially in my rifles. I have gone as high as 3,260 but hit pressure, and backed off to a nice node at 3,175 fps.

Not an optimal powder for it(looking to get rid of some stuff so I made it work) and its a mid range load, not intending to push it at all, but yes it will do more.
