Is a muzzle loader similar to a centerfire in that point of impact at 25 yards is basically the same at 100 yards? I still need to tweak my muzzle loader and will probably have to do it when I get off work this week which means I will have to go it at the house.

That is a good start to getting it going down at or near the center of aim. The elevation is going to be affected by bullet size/powder load etc. Just zeroing at 25 yards won't be good enough in the field.

I agree, but at 25 yds. I don't have to walk as far to check my point of impact.

Do you have a pair of binos to use? I picked up an old TASCO spotting scope (15 - 45 power if I remember correctly) on EBAY for about $20 with shipping. I also use 'DIRTY BIRD" targets- lets me see my bullet holes better.

I agree while there shouldn't be a great amount of difference bullet weight, type, and powder load will have an affect. Cheap bino's, rifle scope, or range finder should be enough to determine hole in target.

Besides, if you can't walk out to target when sight it in then do you really want to walk out that far or farther to drag the deer back after you have shot it? :-0

a .50 caliber hole is easy to spot, even at 100 yds, with just a pair of binos. Especially with reactive targets!
