My GF got her first bow kill Sunday morning. Almost had a complete pass through and got a clean shoot on one lung. What I found odd was the broadhead was completely missing from the arrow. Treads were still inside arrow and nothing broken. Anyone seen this before?

You sure you have the right thread size for the inserts?

No sign of stripped threads?
Have you shot that one since you put it on?

They can get loose when you shoot them from the shock.. may have done that and was sticking out beside him while he was running.... twigs and what not prolly hit it and spun it loose

Only thing I could figure was vibration from running , only went 60 yards though.

That happened to me last year with a Havoc broadhead. Double lung shot and tip poked out the other side but when I pulled the arrow out the threads were broken off inside my insert. I had to fish out the broadhead from under the skin through a 1/2" hole. What broadhead was yours? I was already unhappy with the Havocs not staying locked in and being unable to carry them in a quiver without them disengaging so that was the last straw - I've moved on from them.

It was a stinger 2 blade . Nothing broke, it just came unscrewed cleanly .

I had a guy at the ranch a while back that had helicoil (I think that is what he called them) arrows. He said they were made to spin as they flew. It would make since to me that they would tighten as they impacted, but if they are spinning to the left they would loosen as they hit. Just a thought.

When she first picked up a bow in September ,we had the weight set around 28 (Mathew's cruze bow). She worked her way up quick . At a body weight of 98lbs her muscle memory developed quickly. Hopefully she will be in the 50-55 range by next year.

Thanks V, my daughter is pulling around 40#, she went hunting at Three Rivers with her boyfriend. We went to Cinnamon Creek before her hunt. She took a lesson (very helpful) I got her 100gr Montec's COC broad heads because of her shooting "low" poundage.
When she got there, the ranch owner told her to shoot a mechanical BH cuz it was so much better. She was a guest so she did not protest and screwed on a 2 blade Mech, not sure what brand. After two days of hunting, she got a great shot on about a 140 9 point (cull on this ranch) the arrow barley penetrated and fell out as the buck broke and ran. They waited over night. She said she hit perfect, her boyfriend said he thought it was more in the shoulder. We will never know, as they never found any blood after two days looking.
SO, I'm SO pissed at this land owner who made her change broad heads. Just my little story

CCR set her up with a fix 2 blade 85 grain. Seemed to do the trick, all the credit goes to shoot placement.

They can come loose just sitting in the quiver. I check mine every time I knock a arrow. Couldn't tell ya how many times I found a BH loose.
