My dog like inhales her food, I think that's why she burps. She eats her food in seconds, does not even chew it. When she is done, she is happy, wants to give you a kiss then a dog food burp in the face, does not smell bad, not like her farts.

The blue lacy is now eating as fast as she can and sometimes throwing up. First several years we had her, we couldn't get her to eat much. Now you can't fill her up. 'Been to the vet and had blood drawn for a thyroid test. I think it's some kinda tumor.

The lab has always inhaled her food and now has to be coaxed to eat.

Weird animals that take way too much of our time, but we wouldn't have it any other way.

Yeah when my girl tara was a pup, I had to mix her dry food with warm water and make gravy etc.. to get her to eat, then after few months old just started wolfing her food down, my wife thinks there is an issue with her. If I kept feeding her, she would keep eating till she threw up, then she would eat her throw up.

Yep, my dog eats food as if she has never eaten before (inhales it). Always has. And, most days, I cannot even change my pants after coming home, before she is done eating.

But, yes, she burps after eating for an hour or so.

Dog gets a belly full of gas, I'd rather she burps than the alternative. I get burped at regularly....just part of the eating process for mine.

If you have a dog like this, especially a gun dog that is going to be working, running, playing, etc. immediately after eating, they could be more susceptible to gastric torsion issues. Labradors are one of the breeds prone to it I think. Make sure your aware of the symptoms to watch for as they will need immediate vet attention to survive it. Recognizing what has happened in time is the first step to saving the dog when their stomach full of gas gets twisted. It is why I avoid giving my dogs a big meal just before hunting. And I feed my two dogs separate from each other if I can. Otherwise they will eat too fast guarding from each other.

My dog eats once a day, at night after all physical activities. She goes to bed with belly full of food, and has all night long to digest it.

Was not singling you out, just bringing awareness to it since it is fairly common. But know a single meal a day is a risk factor as well. I was wrong about Labs being one of the breeds at higher risk. By the study mentioned in this blog, 2 percent have a probability of getting it in their lifetime. Weims would a breed more at more risk.

Not related to the OP, but I feed my GSP's in the evening and put their food on a cookie baking sheet. It creates a single layer of food that they have to chase around to eat. Slows them down considerably and hopefully prevents any type of digested issue.

I put a ball in the bowl that they have to move around to get the food. Slows them down alot as well. My dog doesn't burp but inhales the food

I like that idea. I do like my dog to eat all her food rather quickly, because I sprinkle a powder supplement on her dry food, so I want her to eat all that. My other dog Molly, she was not a big eater, she would play with her food, and powder fall to the bottom.
