I have several different scopes that I want to put flip up covers on. What is the best way to measure. Is there a chart that shows sizes by brand of scope?

I don’t know. I gave up on them. They’re too flimsy. There’s much better options out there.

But if you have to have them, I believe you can measure the scope and use that as a guide.

Find store that sell them and scope you have and try them on best way I have found to get correct size. And yes they have chart.

What are you using? I’m not sold on them- just need covers.

Butler Creek covers starting sucking a few years ago and still do.

These aren't cheap, but are very good.

Buying Butler Creeks is like setting dollar bills on fire.

Those Aadmount covers look very good, but $100 will buy a whole bunch of Butler Creeks. I've broken and replaced a few but I'm satisfied with them. I consider them to be consumable items.

I haven’t found an economical replacement in that style of cover. My Burris came with some with their name on them that are pretty nice. I doubt it’s offered as an aftermarket item. I’ve been getting by with bikini covers for now. My next custom rifle will have the Aadmount covers. I just can’t spend that much for the rest of them.

I can’t even put them into the consumable category. I’ve been through dozens of them. I’m done wasting my money. I’ll admit that I’m harder on rifles than the average folk, but I can’t get through more than a hunt or two with those things. At that point, what is the point?

I remember when it hit me that I was done with them. I was headed to the lease with my family and we stopped by the store to pick up a replacement cover for both ends of the scope on every deer rifle I had. What really got me was when I realized this was becoming an annual ritual. I had done the same the year before. I went ahead and replaced them all, but haven’t bought any since. The only ones left are a pair on my White Gold Browning that is rarely taken out of the safe. It was a gift, and is about the only possession of mine that is babied.

I got these when I bought my S&B scope. Best I have tried and or seen. They are built out of a more robust rubber and not flimsy plastic. I haven't seen the Aadmounts before.

^^Those are what came on my NF. In 8 months, I have not managed to tear them up, yet.

Go to Butler Creek home page they give a chart on numerous scope names with the size of the cover to fit.
If that's what you want.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I've had butler creeks on one of my rifles for close to 10 years and they have survived some pretty tough hunts. For sizing, use their chart to get as close as you can, then try them on your scope on a floor model at academy or bass pro.

If I only had a couple or three scopes, I'd consider premium covers. They look damn good. I just can't see spending $100 x 17 to equip all my optics with the things.

I've got 3 scopes, and only one set of Tenebrex. I need to catch up.

You probably just take care of your stuff. I haven’t quite got that down. I need everything bulletproofed if it’s to stand a chance.

Guys with banged up rifles and scopes can probably use them well.

I dunno if that's something I'd take to the bank. Some guys break wristwatches just by puttin em on.

You guys who tear up Butler Creek covers all the time, you know you can use a finishing shot instead of beating your deer and hogs to death with your rifles, right?

Probably. That’s an appropriate qualifier in this particular situation.

I see Butler Creek has soft ones listed on the website called Tactical covers. Under $10 and no springs or hard plastic to break. Surely more durable than the breakoffs.

One shot is all it should take.

I watched a guy break off a Butler Creek cap just pulled his rifle from his shooting bag, LOL. I now run with Vortex Defenders and am happy. Like Sneaky, I need things to be a little more bulletproof. Hunting multiple times per week, in and out of vehicles 5-20 times a hunt, crossing fences, briars, stickers, mud, chest high grass, rain, snow, etc. The stuff that holds up, I keep. That which doesn't, I discard.

As for sizing, you measure the outside of the bell.
