Looking at getting one in 6.5, but they are backordered everywhere. I am wondering if it worth the wait, or if I should just get the Tikka TX3 CTR.

Thoughts?

What are you using it for? It’s 1.5 lbs heavier than a CTR, and a CTR isn’t light to begin with.

I don’t think you could go wrong with either one.

it'll be replacing a heavy azz AR-10. It will be my primary suppressed rifle, deer, hogs, riding around gun. Don't want to have to make many mods.

I just recently purchased a Bergara B-14 hunter in 6.5. Fit an finish is excellent, trigger is fantastic! the safety engages and disengages positively, and I love the feel of the stock. Here's the one rub, and maybe my expectations are just too high. With factory ammo, I am averaging just over 1" MOA. I expected better. I have tried many different brands and weights of ammo, and the one single best group I got was .88 inches. Now, if I was averaging .88 inches, I would be ecstatic. I will be handloading for it in the very near future, so I do expect better soon. Still trying to get it to shoot the way I expected, but, yes, it is a fine rifle.

That’s surprising uncle bubba. My Tikka CTR 6.5 shoots about .5” with 140 ELD-M factory ammo. Almost makes me not even want to handload for it.

have you tried winchester 125 gr xp, if not give it a try and let us know, that stuff is fantastic in my rifle , better than my handloads.

With mainly hunting intentions, buy the 20”CTR and don’t look back. I thought both were fantastic rifles but 2”shorter and 1.5 lbs lighter will make all the difference.

I've tried the ELD-X, ELD-M, Nosler match 140, Winchester 142 gr accubond... All of these were around the 1" to 1.5" mark. The absolute worst was the Nosler 129 gr accubond. These printed a pattern of around 6"! I've already put close to 200 rounds through it, so I'm pretty sure the barrel should be broke in by now. I've been hunting with the ELD-x, and after the season, I'll be getting some 6.5 dies and going to work. I've thought about sending the rifle back to Bergara, but this would be the second time back. I already had to send it back for extractor issues right out of the box. I almost forgot about that.

That sounds concerning.

Excellent tread. I was considering the Bergara B14 in a 6.5 creedmor. Well after reading unclebubba's results. I'm going a different direction. Thanks guys.

It was concerning. They did, however, have a logical explanation, and returned the rifle very quickly. The extractor was under little to no spring pressure when I received it. Their explanation was that their spring supplier had sent them a batch of bad springs that had a high failure rate. They explained that the spring would work perfectly normal at the factory, until it had sat in the gun, compressed for a while, and would then fail. Sounded reasonable to me. I don't know if it was BS or what. I don't know...contemplating sending it back as they do have a 1 MOA guarantee with factory ammo, and I have not seen that out of the rifle yet.

I looked at both Bergara and Tikka. I went with Tikka cause the action felt a lot smoother!
