This late in the season. The colder the better! Rut is over for the most part and deer are hitting feed hard at my place south of San Angelo. I’ll be there next weekend!

The colder the better. I like the sloppy, nasty cold days. To me the more miserable I am the better the hunting should be.

Headed out at daylight in the morning to Young Co. (Murray Area). Good luck to all that are hunting this week.

Can be great if the moon lines up with your timing. Been last 2 evenings no deer just hogs. Deer move good in town though. I must be in the wrong spot.

Recently got a gym membership, strange folks! I like to show up the roid zombies with my full motion curls with the 55lb. bells. Not their cheater short stroked light weights. It's holarious.

YEP!
I really didn't enjoy hunting earlier this year, sweating in a blind is just not "right" to me
I want to be COLD, drizzly and PERFECT for deer hunting

Going back out tomorrow until Sat

Good luck everyone!

Anywhere in the mid 40's is best for me, even with a light rain or drizzle. It's cold and wet enough to make the deer hungry, and not too cold for an older guy like me to stay warm.

There will come a day when you won't hate them deer so much.

Yes sir, comfort is overrated when you're young. Comfort in your teens and 20's, was a solid board in the notch of a tree, or sitting on the wet ground. and life ahead was an open door. Now that the door is half closed, I still enjoy bad weather hunts as long as I'm comfortable grin

One thing I've learned throughout my 35 years of deer hunting (and have been told by the "old-timers"), if its really cold for the area which you hunt, wait until the sun comes up to "warm" the air and the deer will start moving. I have hunted in south Texas all my life and if its below freezing, wait until the sun comes out later in the morning then go hunting. The deer need the warmth of the sun (just like a dog laying in the sun)to get them moving. If its too darn cold then the deer will lay down and wait for that warm sun to come out.

I've seen this too and have thought it's because deer prefer their food sources not being covered in frost, in addition to being warmer when bedded like ourselves.

Heading out either tomorrow afternoon or early Thursday and plan to stay through Monday morning. Wife even asked me just now why I wasn't out at the ranch yet lol. Just have a few calls tomorrow morning and prefer to take them from my home office or I would be out tonight. Good luck to everybody this week!
