Not that it will really stop him, he's a poacher.

I had to laugh at the sentence for the poacher. It seems really appropriate.

That the game warden got off is just plain bias. He should have been fired and had the same sentence.

I think that sentence is awesome! And no, it probably won't stop him from being an outlaw, but now he's a felon. And, if he steps out of line in the next 5 years, he'll probably end up doing full time on the 5 years.

The penalty sounds excessive to me.

The hypocrisy is quite obvious. Do as I say, not as I do.

At least one of the criminals got justice.

One shot is all it should take.

I've always believed that Fried was kept on because he was shot. If they fired him, the state couldn't pay his medical bills. I'll bet he would have been fired had he been caught poaching but uninjured. An overwhelming majority of those in the TPWD LE Division feel the same way you guys do.

Maybe so, but they still got him featured on one or more episodes of Lone Star Law. So not only is he a coyote guarding the hen house, he is getting good publicity for being the guard.

I was watching Lone Star Law and when I saw him I changed the channel.

18k in restitution but someone could high fence that sucker in with no restitution. Free

Not siding with the poacher by any means just find it ironic.

Not real sure why Fried wasn't demoted or lost his job but they have "quietly" cleaned house of a few bad apple GW in the last few years.

Aren’t Game Wardens employed by TPWD possessing Federal Commissions in addition to being a Texas Peace Officer. Any violations of law under state, Lacy or CITES should fall under fed jurisdiction as well, potentially preemptive state.

I believe there is a "brotherhood" thing going on, maybe a relative in higher places. If he worked in my shop the guys would have made his life suck to the point he would quit. It is amazing that he is treated so good.
I sent TPWD an email back when that all went down, I wasn't rude, but I wasn't nice.
And he like any other citizen should have had to pay his own dang hospital bills.
Fried is a POS.

I've thought this from the beginning too. As soon as he got shot taking enforcement action, the higher ups felt like they were between a rock and a hard place and didn't want what would be a very public firing of this guy under those circumstances. When an officer gets shot (assuming the shooting is justified), they are considered almost untouchable by many in their agencies. Aside from what Fried was doing to be there in the first place, the shooting itself was justified based on what I've read. For the record, I don't believe he should have kept his job.
