Just want to see if anyone is having any luck in Young County? Only luck we've had is we found a nice little cafe close to the lease with a killer chicken fried steak on Saturday nights

If it got any better we wouldn't know what to do,,, wait, there are no deer in Young county, or they are all nocturnal.

Hunt a wheat field that last year I would see 30-60 deer an evening in...thisbyear we see stuff come out right at minute before legal shooting ends. Totally different from last year. Isn’t anything we have done that’s for sure. Nocturnal animals are usually the product of hunting pressure. We do hear more shots this year than last.
Interestingly, the deer we see this year have been predominantly Bucks and not doe, a complete opposite from last year too. Weird. Figured this past weekend would be great given the temps, it wasn’t.
Before season during bow and youth season, we saw lots of action. Both good bucks and doe. Just never took any shots. I guess we should have been more trigger happy

A lot of activity recently, this past Saturday evening I saw 7 different bucks and three doe within about an hour sit. I took a nice 10 with split brow tines two weeks ago. I haven't really seen any rutting "activity" to speak of. Although, I think we're on the backside of the rut.

We've seen plenty of deer, several spikes and numerous young bucks, seems to be more young bucks than young does, and haven't seen nearly as many doe as last year. It has been a strange season, but next year should be better. Only have a couple shooters on camera. Not as many legal bucks on camera as last year. Don't know where the big bucks are hiding. We are hearing lots of coyotes!

SLOW is an understatement. My place is heavily wooded and there are acorns in some trees and everywhere you step. Hunted this place 11 years, never seen the lack of deer movement as I have this season. Corn at a few feeders piling up and NO PICS of a shooter buck since October. Gonna hunt the week after Christmas, hope conditions improve.

Anyone with some updates around Murray? Headed out this week, hoping the acorns are gone and deer are finally moving like normal again. Please advise and thanks.

Was at the lease from Tuesday night tI'll this morning. Still pretty slow in our area, saw the same group of doe just about every other sit. I didn't see any horns, my buddy says he saw a big ol mule of a buck about 450yds out Saturday evening trailing some doe and a nice 8pt this morning but he was pretty young so he let him walk. Popped of coyote Wed afternoon and took a pig Saturday afternoon, weighed in at 175lbs..new record for our place(not a whole lot of pig traffic anymore). We're heading out this weekend as well...I've got a good feeling.

Me neither, I won't go looking for them but if they show up while I'm deer hunting they get shot at. I heard that as well. Best of luck to you as well!

4W I'm west of Murray a bit and north of Woodson and it's been real slow.

Hunted this evening shouldn't really count it was 78 when I got in the blind. Killed 3 wasps and a yote. Lots of pig and deer tracks in the mud. No moon and still nocturnal. We'll see what happens with this front. Saw a doe and a buck after dark right at 578 and 183.
Good luck !

We saw 3 good bucks (for the area) hop out of the feed pen when we drove by with a trailer load of round bales about 4 pm yesterday. 2 young doe on the edge of mesquites a little further down our road. 3 doe & a young scraggly 5 point watching me unload & transfer hay into storage area from about 120 yards. We saw another 4 deer while disconnecting trailer & parking tractor. Quite warm yesterday.
Had a cold front move in early this am with light rain & sprinkles so we both decided to hunt, figured weather would get them moving. North wind gusty & howling at times, wife is in blind on the other side of the property, oaks to her right mesquite & bedding area to left corn feed in between, I'm about 80 yards from a natural travel corridor in heavy oaks dry creek bed running through it corn feeder on edge. With this wind it is seriously cold right now. We ain't seen doodly squat, guess they're still bedded down.

Rustler Good to hear from you. Finally started to see some deer moving over in Murray. Deer still won't come to feeders but hitting the roads I corned. Looking forward to a chilly dry morning with lighter winds.

Hope you have good luck. Neither of us saw a deer today which is unusual on our place. Wife did her hour walk after lunch to the south pasture & checked on the bulls she didn't see a thing, not even a rabbit. I didn't see anything at our place about 6 miles north of HQ when I put out some round bales after lunch, last time I didn't see a deer on that place was late August. At least in this area I think the rapid temp drop wind & drizzle locked them down. Acorns on ground still viable & tons of them, deer don't have to move more than a few yards to get a belly full. We don't rely on corn, our blinds are set up between bedding, oaks & travel paths the feeders are the last place we pay attention to. The only time I sit in a box is when it is raining. Deer cant easily pattern you if you're always somewhere different. When hunting in a county where it seems like the hunters out number the deer you either go hunt them or sit in a box and wait on luck.

Fellow Murray area hunters, haven't hunted in 3 weeks. Upon leaving the lease last trip out, I found an abundance of acorns on the ground and numerous trees with them in the caps. My feeders all had corn under them, appeared to be a throw or two on the ground. Really interested in looking at cam cards to see what's been going on. I believe DQ & 4weight hunt in this general area, just curious if you guys have hunted since this last front or plan on hunting after Christmas. I'll be out there Tuesday @ noon. Thanks

Well Rut I'm afraid it's been more of the same. Deer are just not coming to feeders. I corned the main road artery of my place and saw three deer in 4 sits. My pens have corn in them and it's piling up. I have 1 cam going on my PF and saw doe in the last week or so hitting the protein but mainly at night. Have not seen any of the Bucks I've had on that cam thru September show up. I'm frustrated to say the least. Back out Wed to Fri next week will touch base when out. Good luck amigo and Merry Christmas.
