I would say it has been a slow year for me too. Lots of stand time and sitting in brush blinds. 4-5 days a week since the season started. I've been lucky to get to hunt so much!

In the last week or so I've killed two nice bucks in two different parts of Texas. Up till that point though this was one of the slowest seasons I've had. Best advice I can give anyone is hunt when you can and as much as you can!!!

Been a slow year for us. Unseasonably warm temps, full moons etc. and we haven't got to the rut yet in our area. Hope it will pick up.

Stupid slow but that partially my fault. We moved into a new house the day after Thanksgiving so that weekend was killed. Been 2x this year and both were full moons. Next trip will also be a full moon barf

We've seen exactly one legal buck at our place this year. Lots of young bucks around but I don't know where the bigger bucks have gone.

Was your area hit hard by drought?

I'm sure the drought of 2011 affected the deer herd in our area but in the 4 years we've owned this place it's the first time that we haven't seen multiple mature bucks. There were 18 does and one little 4 pt. in our food plot yesterday evening.

It has been a tough year but dang that seems a little extreme. Not sure how big your place is but do you have new neighbors or hunting pressure on the deer that haven't been there in years past? Maybe they will start coming out. No pics on game cams either?

We had a few decent bucks on camera earlier in the year but they're nowhere to be seen. I guess it's a good thing that I don't really care if I shoot a buck. Our neck of the woods is infested with hogs so I get in plenty of shooting. We shoot probably 40-50 every year.

I hear ya on the hogs. On my place in NETX I've been laying the hammer to them. I do know when the hogs move out better and more deer move back in.
