I'm looking to change my windows from lifting them up from the inside to sliding windows. The deer bust me constantly because of the way the windows open. I have camo cover over them but it hangs over the window and there in lies the problem. This allows too much light into the blind and makes it easy for them to see my silhouette. Thoughts? Ideas? Recommendations?

Paint the inside of the blind flat black if you haven’t already to make the inside darker

1. As Sapper said, paint the inside flat black.
2. Use camo netting
3. Don't sit between windows where the deer can skylight you
4. Orient your blind so less light comes in
5. Cover your face so it's not white & shiny.

I say paint the inside white. So not as much contrast difference between your white face and the walls. I have deer look at my blind all the time. Just if the are staring at you dont move. basic 101 of hunting

I agree with QuitShootinYoungBucks -- plus more:

* Paint inside flat black
* Paint outer window cover or such flat black -- so that when you aren't there with window open the deer see a black rectangle
* Open only one (or two) primary windows -- and keep the others closed so you don't get "silhouetted"
* Wear black: hat, shirt, coat, everything -- and sit back in the shadows of your blind instead of constantly sticking your shiny white face out there

Hope that helps.

Also, YellowDog is spot-on: Don't move -- or move really slowly. Hunting 101.

My windows drop down and I have curtains that cover up 1/2 the window. The inside is dark green because that's what I had. I have shot deer as close as 8 yrds. I open the windows extremely slow. I have a metal window frame on 1 of my blinds ( Ranch King Blind ) and I velcro the top of the curtain directly to the metal frame. works well for me. the half curtain on the windows makes it hard for the deer to see in at all. I will cover the complete window on the ones that are not primary windows. This allows me to have no curtains on my windows directed at the feeder. The bigger the blind the better on covering the windows mine are 6x6s and 1 is a 6x5 Ranch King.

If you have a glass in your back window cover it. Spray paint some cardboard black and put it I front of the glass. If it’s a wood window keep it closed. Deer will not see your movement as much with back glass obstructed. Good luck.

I'm shopping for windows currently too - I have used small home hopper and horizontal windows in the past with different advantages to each.

Found these on Buck Stop website. You can pick up from their store if near Hico or D/FW area or they ship.

Young man at Hico Store answered my email immediately and sent inventory list.

They have flip up and horizontal slider.....I'm liking flip up better so you have more usable space. Pricing is as good as I've seen. Tinted option really helps with privacy and they're virtually silent to open when needed.

If you can, move the feeders farther from the stand (same with spread corn). My feeders are (at least) 120 yards from my stand and I get by with a multitude of sins.
