This is my first AR so I'm lost here. I have 3.5 x 10 x 50 scope I want to mount, but the forearm in front of the rail is actually slightly higher than the rail. This is much different than my other rifles where the barrel actually slopes down from the rail or base leaving plenty of room for a 50mm objective. Will regular "high" rings work for this, or do I need a special mount or see-through rings? Any help or advice appreciated.....

Just glanced around at a few different forums and it seems highs should work well. I'd take the stress off and just order a pair from a company with good return policy then it doesn't much matter.

Thanks Kthnx.

Looks like high rings might work, but just laying out the scope and rifle on the table it looks too close to call. I may need some sort of riser.

You guys have any suggestions on a riser type mount? The scope is a 1" Vortex DB............

Thanks spanky!

I checked it out and it looks good, My only question is shipping. The RRA sight says shipping rate determined at time of shipment?? Do they charge a fair price or will they add $ to the actual shipping charges?

Never "bridge" a scope / mount between the receiver and the handguard rail

You need a good AR specific mount..
The ADMount is my personal favorite

hwy72, i bought some mags with the mount and honestly can't remember the shipping amount though, if it was unreasonable i would have remembered

ccoker, can you explain bridge a scope, the rra mount is ar specific, or so i thought

you want the mount (or rings) to be only on the receiver, not on the receiver and the handguard rail...
You don't want it "bridging" the two pieces

Thanks for the info guys.

ccoker, the aadmount @ $330 is a bit pricey for my budget. I think I'll go with the RR and save the $270 for something else.

ccoker, got it, thank you sir. unless hwy72 has replaced the stock handguard with a rail, the possibility to bridge the mount is non-existent and what hwy72 is referring to "slightly higher than the rail" in my opinion, is the stock handguard, it is slightly higher than the upper receiver rail, i have a dpms oracle too
