Who makes the best wooden aftermarket stocks? I need one for a Ruger MKII short action. Any suggestions??

Define best. Boyd’s makes nice stocks but they aren’t high grade Woods. Most of theirs are laminated.

I'm pretty great. Bolt guns start at $4k. Jerry Fischer can get you setup for around $6k

That comes down to the quality and amount of figure you want.
Hunterbid.com is a good place to check out blanks. Typically $750 gets you a really great blank, I've cut into really fancy stuff that the customer paid $3k for. Cecil Fredi is another great wood provider.

Ha ha.....I must have hit the Ruger lottery because this is a factory stocked MK II .270 Win that I purchased at Cabelas. It's certainly not exhibition grade wood but I bet you wont see to many $600 Ruger's like this one.

Russo is generally known as the best, as far as I know. I’ve seen pictures of TDK’s work on here, and it’s beyond impressive to look at.

Sendit, yes, you did hit the lottery. That’s about as nice a factory stock as I’ve ever seen. I would have bought that rifle for that reason alone.

Pretty sure that gun was a Cabelas exclusive that used Circassian walnut like the Ruger Magnum and Express lines. Notice it even has a black forend tip. It's not your every day MKII that you just happened to get stunning wood with.

Nothing gives a rifle or shotgun more "character" than a finely grained wood stock.
