I preferred to process my own deer. I shot a doe this morning, and some things have come up that I need to take care of this afternoon. It’s going to be 49 or 50° this afternoon, is that cool enough to let a deer hang until this evening when I will have time to work on processing it. If not, I’ll have to find a processor to drop it off with.

IMO you're fine. Deer will still be cooling out. Hang her in a shade tree.

I’ll hang her under my covered porch. It’ll keep the sun off of her.

I done this a few years ago with a buck...just kept it under my shop's attached camper/tractor port. I think the highest temp was about 40 that day when I did it.

As mentioned hang in the shade on the north side of where you hang it.
It will be fine.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Just finished getting her quartered and on ice. The meat was so cold it was making my hands numb.

Honestly I am new to hunting down here since I had to have a major surgery right after moving here where my wife is from, but up north we always hung deer in the garage overnight and it was very cold out. If I was having to wait on processing a deer in 50 degree weather, I would fill the cavity with ice and pour ice over the whole body. Quarter it, throw it in some large coolers or storage bins doubled up (if you don’t have enough coolers) and put it out of the sun. That will keep the deer nice and fresh for you. They also make coolers for game animals that I found when looking in to it. Also you can get those really long white IGLOO coolers for dirt cheap money if you go to their company off the Katy Freeway. They have a small store on the side of the company building where they sell coolers with small blems like color splotches on them, but they work completely fine and are really discounted in price. Hope this helps you out.

I really like these and want to get one but they are kind of expensive. Made in Oklahoma.

The only issue with my situation today was I only had about a half hour between getting home from the hunt and needing to be on the road to help my wife with something. That half hour includes getting the deer out of the truck, hanging it up, getting showered and dressed etc. Normally I would skin and quarter right after the hunt, I just didn’t have the time. Just glad it was cold enough today or I would have had to take it to a processor.

I shot a buck Wednesday afternoon. He's been hanging since Wednesday night. I will start skinning him tomorrow morning. If it's cold enough, they can hang for days and days.
