For those that have hunted, are thinking about hunting, or hope to hunt Zimbabwe:

Military Coup (?) today

The people there, of all colors, deserve a better life.

Still one of the best values for low fence/no fence African hunting there is, although I haven't been back in years. 'Hope to return someday, if I can jack myself up for the plane ride.

I've always wanted to hunt there, but refuse because of the politics, and the never ending problems with getting your animals out of there. Hope thing get better with new leadership in that country.

Getting animals out was quite quick actually. I always used the same dip and pack service. He was amazingly fast, even in some of the worst of times in the country. There are much slower African countries in that regard. And is there such a thing as "good" African politics?

The State Department was telling Americans to shelter in place yesterday. Not good.

Hopefully this is for the good. Dictatorships almost always end up in a military coup. Mugabe should have stepped aside years ago and setup a democracy of some sort.

On the plus side.. The Interior Dept changed policies this week on elephant and lion trophy imports from Zimbabwe and Zambia. So when things settle down there trophy hunting should provide a nice economic boost from that respect.

I talked to a couple of landowners and PH's yesterday and today. All is quiet in the bush and most cities. There is a military presence in Harare. The native Zims are optimistic that things will get better. Grace Mugabe is in Namibia which is good for peace.

Maybe we'll wake up tomorrow...and he'll be gone:

Zanu to oust Mugabe?

Not that the alternative will be any better, but, if it happens, I know a few good men that will be drinking a good bottle of scotch they've been saving tomorrow.
Hell, I'd be dancing with them, if I was there. Prayers for Zimbabwe.

Mugabe resignation

He gone! banana

Now prayers are needed that the next period will be better. It would be hard to be worse, but it's always possible.

The influx of a large number of highly trained Mercenaries and their reason for being there may have something to do with it along with a company of former Selous ascouts that have some old scores to settle.

Selous assessment and selection made buds look like Girl Scout Camp

Of course, 'don't trust the new guy, but this is impressive.

And the farmer is the definition of "tough".
