Someone showed me that pic when I was in Waco yesterday. Beautiful animal but hard to believe that deer is not from a HF. Lots of hunting pressure and small tracts of land out there.

As many little high fencers there are in bosque I would be really shocked if it was native.

Lots of high fences in the area now, ted nugents place is not far from there, probably some genetics from some that got out.

If it's a pen-raised deer that escaped, he's not legit. Holes or tattoos in the ears would disqualify him from being considered a native, low-fenced buck. Now, if he were a pasture born deer that escaped that high-fenced ranch, that's another story. But I agree with the board that deer has some northern genetics in him.

I was under the impression that you have to have 10 acres to hunt. Am I wrong?

Congrats to the hunter on a nice deer. And yes, just looking at the buck, I would suspect he has some juiced DNA running through his veins. Not a slam in anyway, I would have pulled the trigger in a heartbeat, but knowing the area, guessing this is an escapee, or the offspring of an escapee. Just up HWY 6 toward Meridian there are several pretty well-known White Tail breeders.

According to the FB site this was posted on, it was not shot in Bosque county but next to it. Seems like an escapee that grew a few years.

I believe thats only in Harris county around Houston, might be a few other cities I'm not aware of that have an ordinance like that. Heard of one guy who owns 5 acres bordering granger that kills a giant every year.

He escaped from a high fence I'd bet. Big deer.

He's got a tag in his ear, not free range unless he was released or got out.

He's probably standing by a cross fence inside a high fence.....
