What a great hunt. Low fenced, and this is the first year they are letting people hunt this property in 4 years. The whitetails are NOT pressured at all yet! Missed the first shot with my bow when she turned away right when I released the arrow and they all ran about 80 - 100 yards and just stood among the trees trying to figure out what happened. I then dropped one with my rifle and they all moved but did not acted to spooked, a few mins later another doe presented a shot and I took her too. I had one more doe tag, and when a 3rd does presented an opportunity a few mins later I asked how much for a 3rd one and I could not pass it up and POW! Was a lot of work last night when I got home but the freezer is full, that leaves one more tag for a nice buck! A quick video shows the hunt. Full episode to come on the Hunt Channel soon! Mark is the name of the Land Manager 352.647.5796 give him a call and tell him I sent you! He does 2 does for 250! Or do a management hunt with 2 does included for 1,000

Good job getting them to go down, BUT....
First shot was through vegetation and not a great shot. Esp when there was one right next to her that was clear of the brush and had a great shot opportunity. I highly caution against shooting into any kind of brush.
Second, get youself a real gun rest. That monopod was way too shakey and I wasn't sure where any of your shots actually hit the deer.
Third, for those shots, you should have not had hardly any tracking job. Those deer were not large, and they should have been locked down where you shot them, not 40-70-100 yards away. Shot placement, coupled with a good rest will make a world of difference and the differenc ebetween a recovered doe, a unrecovered doe, and a wounded doe.
Overall, glad you got three. I was worried about them all when they all ran off so far, the second one for sure, given it looked like you wnet for the neck shot (or high chest shot?). Had I been sitting in the blind with you, you would have never gotten a second shot off...

Overall, glad you got three. I was worried about them all when they all ran off so far, the second one for sure, given it looked like you wet for the neck shot (or high chest shot?). Had I been sitting in the blind with you, you would have never gotten a second shot off... The first one ran 30 yards, and was just in front of the shoulder with exit behind the shoulder. The second one dropped down after a high chest at the base of the neck, exiting just trough he spine and never moved (you see the 2nd doe running but not her) the third one ran 30 yards as well after a double lung shot. (The other "doe" you were referring to on that first shot was a yearling spike with about 3 inch spikes) You are right about the shooting stick, I prefer a 2 point rest myself. I actually brought my rifle for hogs after the hunt and was going to use my bow, but that plan failed. What you actually saw was my bow rest for when I am in the ground blind so I don't have to set my bow on the ground. I typically will go for all neck shots so they drop right where they are hit, but was not stable enough and wanted a shot that was a little more forgiving with more vitals. Hence the double lung shot on the 3rd and chest shot on the first. I also agree with a "brush shot" however there were no brush, and THIN vegetation the angle of the rifle makes it look a lot worse than what it was. I was clear of any kind of brush type situation that could deflect a round. I would never risk having a deflection and wound a deer. Great feedback, thank you.

Hey man, I trust you on those assessments. You were there looking through the scope, I wasn't. Just reporting what it appeared like through the video.
Like I said, good job getting them down...

Ha, Sounds like me in bow season. I was drawn back on number three in less then 45 min and realized it’s hot and I didn’t bring enough coolers.

I hunted with Mike and boy does his property have deer!!! I have never seen so many free range low fences white tail deers in my entire life in one place! Within minutes of sunrise, the bucks came out to feed. I counted about 6 before the herd of does followed suit. That’s right, I said herd because there were that many! I took down a doe at 150 yards and they scattered, about 30 minutes later they came back and I took my second doe at 75 yards. Hunt was done! Mike is an awesome guide, his hunts are fully guided and all his buck hunts come with 2 does. Now that I’ve seen with my own eyes the types of deer he has on his property, I will be back next year for a buck hunt!
