It works. I hunted the river bed, and it's like shooting down a 150 yard wide, 1-1/2 mile long bowling alley. I had range markers (small stacks of drift wood) set up at 2, and 300 yards. I shot four coyotes, the two longest at 270 and 323 yards. The 270 yard shot is low, I had the CDS dialed at 200, not realizing that he was 70 yards beyond the marker. It happened quick and I knew he was between my 200 and 300 yard markers. The shot was low, 3" or so, which makes sense. The 323 yard shot was right on the money. By the marker, I knew he was very close to 300, spun the dial 10 audible clicks from 2 and let it go. This with great ammo, a fantastic gun.....it works.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

Excellent work! What river bed? Our place borders the Red river, but from what I understand, the bank of the river on our side is technically Oklahoma, so I don’t think we can Legally Hunt it

I'd welcome it, wouldn't mind learning. Hook me up at your range for quick demo, and I'll return the favor with the an opportunity on some live, moving stuff!

In a hunting set up, like I've shown here, tell me how it works. See the coyote, which is moving, estimate the range, and hold on a mil mark? I assume you have to commit to memory # of mil's specific to your load? I've never done it, but it sounds like it may work faster than the CDS. The only draw back to the CDS is the time to dial it. But it does work. I went four for four on living moving targets of 130, 15ish, 270 and 323 yards. Really, tell me how it is applied in the field.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

In general terms. How would someone that used a Mil reticle do it?
This was with a .308, 165 gr SST, with a published muzzle velocity of 2840 from a 24" 5R barrel. I'm interested to know how quickly in a hunting set up someone that has mastered the Mil reticle method can get it done. I assume they would pre-range target locations, see the target in a pre-ranged area and know how many Mil's to hold, and shoot. If so, I'm liking it.

You're exactly right.
Most reticles now days are broken up in .5 Mil incrememnts. Every .5 Mil is a smaller hash than a whole Mil. Take a look at several manufacturers Mil based reticles, and you'll see what I mean.
In your case, from a 100 yard zero, it would go something like this:
100 yards, 0 150 yards, .2 200 yards, .4 250 yards, .8 300 yards, 1.2 350 yards, 1.7
You have to invent each tenth Mil, but that is not too difficult to see with a little bit of practice. For all my customers, once we check 100 yard zero, we dial out to 800 (same coreections as the hold, but the turret would be set on the same number). After dialing out to 100, I have everyone return the turret to 100 yard zero, and hold elevation, using the reticle. It is a valuable tool for the toolbox, especially when speed is key. And speed is important very often on animals.

They are in a better place now.LOL

Next one will be hanging over the back of my office chair. Didn't realize that for $160.00, taxidermist would tan it. It works.
