Can anyone give me a good taxidermist in the Tyler or east Texas area to do a full bobcat mount. Also looking for pricing for the same mount.

mikesdeadstuff.com Mike's a great taxidermist, located in Lavon, only taxidermist I use. You can't beat his work or his prices.

I was going to have one mounted several years ago and $800 was the going rate. Wasn't worth half that to me to own a bobcat mount.

The vast majority of taxidermists will charge $600-800 or so. There are about 1 in 100 who really know how to do cats - they are the hardest animal in the taxidermy world to get right.

A guy from Georgetown who posts on here from time to time (Mike I believe) is one of the few I have seen that knows how to do cats well. Hopefully someone will have more details on him or he will post.
God’ Creation Taxidermy in Cresson (Mark I believe) also does good work with cats.

I look at a good bobcat mount as an investment, spend the money to get a good one, don't look for the low cost option. I've had quite a few cats done and although I'm from LA, I get my cat mounts done in TX, even had one done from the guy in Georgetown, to this day I still don't have a good looking bobcat.

I will tell you that my next bobcat will probably be done by Huftax on here. I guess what I'm trying to say is pay the extra money or drive the extra distance, do your homework and get a good one. Good luck.

Ok for you Texas patriots, Ben Cromeens at Tri-State Taxidermy, 713-465-7388, for you Louisiana people, David Cavaretta at Bayou Taxidermy and Hunting, 225-405-4683, or Sonny Amato, at 225-241-0215, now you know.
Just a reminder, price doesn't guarantee good quality and accurate work, take the time to visit and look over your taxidermist work, Texas has some of the best wildlife artist anywhere.

Mike Powell out of Lavon, Tx. Great work at a very reasonable price, check out his website: mikesdeadstuff.com Mike is the only taxidermist I let work on my trophies, and he's good about his turn around time also, I hear of stories people not getting their heads back for a year, that's ridiculous. Also one of his specialties are bobcats, true works of art.

I think you see more bad bobcats than any other 2 mounts put together. To echo some other comments, don't skimp on a bobcat. I would want to see bobcats the taxi has done - not deer, elk, exotics, etc. $875 & $1000 is what my 2 buddies paid that ended up with nice mounts. That was with fairly simply habitats. No clue on taxis in that part of the state but it may be worth shipping him. Hufftax, God's Creation, Tri-State, B&B, and Palermo would all be safe choices.

Tx hunter80 is 100% right, bobcats are one of the toughest animals to master, check out Mike's website plenty of other customers' cat photos available.

I'm in Tyler too and I had a heck of a time finding a decent taxidermist in our area. After a long search, and really thinking I was going to have to drive four hours to where the closest "good" taxidermist was, a friend told me about Galan Logan in Gilmer. He owns Life's Pursuit Outdoors https://www.facebook.com/Lifes-Pursuit-Outdoors-718318431556700/ and he does really nice work on big game heads. After looking at what they have done, the next biggest thing for me is how they tan the hides. I will never use anybody that tans their own hides. I do not believe it's possible to get anything close to the same quality at home as you get from a commercial tannery. Galan is sending his hides up to Wisconsin, I think that's the state, but it might be another one in that area. They are amazing. You wont find a better tannery then the one he is using. Next, I see who they get their forms from. Most will buy from the big name companies, which is good. Some make their own, which is bad. And finally, I want to see how nice they keep their shop. How organized they are means I will never get somebody else's horns or antlers on my mount!! Price never enters my decision when deciding on who to use. One way or another, I'll find the money to pay for it.

As for bobcats, he has one picture on Facebook of one that I do not care for. It's average at best, but not as bad as most of them. There is no other animal as hard to do as a bobcat. Sadly, most turn out really horrible. The hardest thing to do is see somebody post a picture of their bobcat on here and not say anything. I got lucky with mine and had it done by a guy who passed away awhile ago that was very good. I've never found anybody like him since then.

I googled taxidermist in Tyler and Morgans Taxidermy out near the airport might be worth visiting. He says that one of his bobcat mounts is on display at Atwoods over the guns. I never noticed it there, but will probably be in there some day next week to get some deer corn and will make a point of checking it out then.

There is a thread about 5 pages back on this you should check it out. Hands to me Gods Creations does the absolute best work on cats I have ever seen. If I ever take another one hands he will be mounting it.

It also depends what all your wanting affects the price as well. When you get a cat swatting at a wood duck or quail or fighting rattle snakes that’s when stuff gets a bit pricey. As others have said do your homework and don’t base solely on price! Buddy shot an okay cat last year it was his first one. Tried to be cheap and to a back door taxidermy shop. It was the ugliest sorriest excuse for cat I have ever seen!!!! It was so pathetic I told him just to walk out and not even pay for it. So needless to say he learned his lesson.

Not in Tyler but Dan( Hang'em High) here in Granger. I know I have posted pic before but he does a hell of job. Here is one he did from a bobcat trapped from my place.

What if you actually shoot a cross eyed cat and they fix it? What if you really want a wall eyed feline? bolt

Brayden (Lazy L's Southern Comfort) you will be missed! You were more than a pet you were my reason to rise and return for many days! You were my rock!

Mark @ God's Creations has mine and it should be ready around the first of the year. I shot him opening morning last year and stuck him in the freezer until I figured out who I was going to use. He's doing a wall pedestal mount with rocks and a leg raised up. Mark is changing the form up, so that he will be looking down, since he will be on the wall. $875 is what I will be paying, $400 up front. I'm confident that it will be exactly what I'm looking for. Hufftax in Abilene is also another great taxi!

I believe I seen your mount when I dropped off my whitetail. I was impressed to say the least. He will be handling all my future trophies.

I have one being mounted now. Gonna run $1500.

I did get a nice rock pedestal and having it mounted with a quail under his paw.

Been a year this month. Taxi said it will be 12-16 months. Heard he is the best cat taxi in our area and can’t wait to see it finished.

Dave Dooley in Rockwall has mounted two bobcats, a coyote and a bear for me - all his predators look correct and have the correct facial features. Last time I had a bobcat done he was charging $600

Not sure why the pic comes in rotated
