Bought this knife made from railroad spike over 20 years ago
as a gift for my dad that spent his working career as a railroad man.
Don't think he ever really thought as much of it as we thought he might
but regardless now that he's gone it's back in my hands and tell the
truth I'm not all that fond of the severe upturn of the point.
I realize it does give added cutting length but could to me look better
and (maybe only in my mind) be more functional.
So the question is: can the blade be modified to more
of a clip point or at least less of a curved trailing point?
Don't want to loose any more length than absolutely necessary
or the temper of the blade or any other negatives a
knowledgeable knife maker might inform me of.
Any and all comments welcome.
Just curious if there is a practical way to make it look less like a
middle eastern sash knife. No offense to any sash knife lovers.

1. Draw a new blade profile.

2. Grind to the line you just drew. Frequently cool blade while grinding so you maintain the temper.

Thanks for the advice. You make some fine looking knives.
I assume a slow turning grind wheel would be best.

Slow or even a hand file. The spike is much softer than a file. Good luck and thank you.

Hand file while watching football games. Will keep you occupied through Super Bowl.

Looks like a file is the way to go for me
as it will be a while before I get to the shop
with equipment.

Thanks!

About an hour file work and I like it much better.
Didn't remove that much but to me it is less
of a display piece and more serviceable knife.
Thanks again for the advice.
