Has anyone had any luck in Jack County? How's deer movement. Any RUT activity?

Have sat 4 times since beginning of season, been skunked every time except for yesterday. Brother in law shot a spike, and I had a nice little 6 pt come through with nose to the ground. When I pulled camera cards as of Wednesday they were still grouped up. But get ready, I think this cold will jump start them for sure. Just have to put yourself where they are, still a ton of acorns out there.

Have had bucks with does at the feeders for last 8-10 days. I'm 4-5 miles east of the Jack County line.

Haven't witnessed any chasing, but I've barely hunted. Just checking game cams, but from what I've seen on those there is some chasing.

Weekend before Thanksgiving has almost always been the peak of the rut for us.

It has been so slow this year hardly any good shooters on camera which is crazy for us not sure whats up. Deer seem to be avoiding the feeders for the most part. Hunt a few miles west of Jacksboro

One of my son's shot a spike a couple weeks ago. I have sat 4 times and seen nothing. Corn just piling up. I haven't rifle hunted in 8 yrs but I'm thinking about spending the day on a stump in the woods with my 30-30 this weekend.

I've seen several young bucks and some does the first two weekends in the northwest corner of Jack County. Every doe I saw the second weekend was being chased. I've seen one buck that I believe was a shooter, but he never came out of the brush so I could confirm that. It has been a record year for turkeys so far.

Wonder if the drought 4/5 years is showing. Not many mature deer. All 3 year olds and less is what we are seeing east of you. Tons of young bucks like spikes and fork horns.

I have been fortunate and seen some deer, not as many as usual. Acorns,. acorns, acorns nuts
Deer have been eating in the food plot and hardly touching the feeder.

Good luck to you up

Very true on acorns. Late September when the food plot came up I had a lot of deer on the camera. Corn has been piling up because of acorns. Got here this morning and my top feeder was picked clean. That is promising! As for the drought, we had 4 shooters last year and a whole mess of 3 year olds. I seen a real nice three year old I passed many times, seen him on here last season deader than a door nail. A trophy is a trophy, I’m not knocking him. We just need a rain and a good freeze to knock out these acorns.

Good luck guys and shoot straight!

Had this guy at the feeder for 15 mins yesterday & couldn't make up my mind.. Thought he might be a little young..? Saw more deer yesterday than any sit yet.. Pigs have mostly disappeared since September.. We're a few miles SW of Jacksboro..

Just saw my target buck. Couldn't get crosshairs on him in time. Stomach is in knots and heart still pounding. I'm 28 and been hunting since a kid, didn't know I could still get buck fever

Real late start. Snuck into the blind about 15 minutes ago. Nothing moving yet, but I've seen a total of 7 deer in 8 sits since bow season opener on the wise, jack county line just off 199. Gunna leave the family land to to others to hunt, and find a lease next year.
