We hunt west of Aspermont right on the border of Kent and Stonewall County. Has anyone in the area been seeing any rut activity? Usually it starts right around Thanksgiving from what we have seen in the past. Going out next week for about 5 days with my dad and BIL. Are they hitting feeders yet or still enough native food for them?

Mature bucks not hitting feeders yet.

Should be timing it about right.

Have land near Girard. Noticed this weekend that the bucks were moving more than usual but are still grouped together. They are starting seek out does. We do a lot of night hunting on wheat fields. Over the last several weeks, the wheat fields are covered with does. Seen as many as 50-60 at times but most all does and small yearling bucks. This weekend the does were still out but we saw at least 20 nice bucks among them but not chasing them per say. I bet within the next 2 weeks, it will be full rut. Need a good cold front that lasts several days to kick it in. The big bucks are still mostly nocturnal. My thoughts.

Just spent 90 hours in the blind the last 10 days in Aspermont. Bucks are chasing for sure, but I only saw young bucks. Best of luck.

I hunted west of Jayton for 5 years, along the salt fork. Killed most of our bucks right about now. Was able to rattle bucks from opening of gun all through the season. This was back in the 90s when that area had a very low deer density.

We hunt about 8 miles east of Aspermont. Last week we saw a lot of really nice young bucks chase. I have shot 6 of my last 8 deer in the first week of December so this weekend and next should be money. Best of luck!!

I hunted all of last week(Stonewall county) and saw one mature buck locked down with a doe. All the other bucks I saw were at feeders and would run and check does as they came in and then would come back to the feeders. I'm thinking this coming week it should really be on in that area. I'm headed out this afternoon. Best of luck to you.

Saw the same thing in Montague. Chase like heck and then come back to feed and do it again when more doe show up. We always have the best bucks passing by on camera we never see again first weekend in Dec and most folks have given up by then. I am not giving up this year. Your rut shows peaking about now and think we might be on same schedule.

Update. I hunted the last 4 days. It was hot and that moon didn't help any. I saw fewer deer this trip than any so far this season. We really need some good lasting cold weather. Guess Ill try it again later this week.
