Just finished my annual Pre-Thanksgiving trip to the lease. Did not want to come home. Rut pattern was off this year, but it was gorgeous out there. Passed a decent mature 10. He had a good frame but real short tines. Saw some great young bucks, and took this crazy 13pt Hypogonadism "stag" buck. He weighed 152lb live, pretty good for our area, and was covered in fat.

Saw a little spike, he brought new meaning to the term "eye guards."

Way cool, they are in full rut.
That young 10 with kicker is going to be a giant.

Think I’m head down Thursday

laugh Sorry I am laughing at myself for while I was looking through your wonderful pictures I kept looking for a Stag deer, like a Red Stag deer and all I saw was the Whitetail confused2

So I had to look up Hypogonadism to get it up

Very nice! Those stags are good eating. I'm headed to Llano late Thursday for a 5 day hunt. I hope to find me one of those. We normally have a few running around.

The rut is all wonky out there this year. It started with that big cold front that pushed through at my place. I shot a large, heavy 8pt Saturday night of opening weekend after I watched him beat the tar out of a 3-yr-old 10pt and run another 10pt clear out of the pasture. Acorns everywhere plus heat plus full moon made what's usually a very action-packed hunt pretty difficult. I was actually about to shoot a big doe when I heard this guy grunting from like 100 yards away behind me. Walked right underneath me and I shot him at like 50 yards once he gave me some lung.

Have also seen some very nice bucks around my place.

Here's my buck live on the hoof:

Love was in the air:

A smattering of other bucks:

Thanks guys. It was a very enjoyable hunt even if I didn't connect with the big buck I was after.

They should have been. It was very start/stop, weird. I think it is just now getting going full speed. Thursday should be great timing. If there was any way I could go back I would. Good luck.

Yeah, they are great, very tender. We usually take 1 or 2 per year but this guy us the craziest so far. Good luck to you.

Cameron00-Great buck! Looks like your place is paying off nicely.
