Let me know how your hunting has been in the Texas Hill Country. I hunt around Rocksprings and it has been very slow! Acorns everywhere, still green and Hot weather.

No rut sign yet.

Let me know what you are seeing.

Thanks for the feedback!

Agree, and it usually takes a good frost to kill off the grasses and forbs, and as the acorns dwindle it will get a lot better.

We're headed to Rocksprings first week in December. Should be perfect if it doesn't rain.

We've hunted that area a long time. You're spot on. Too much to eat right now, no real rut activity yet.

We go opening weekend to let the kids get some deer (generally doe and cull bucks at that point; you might catch a good kid buck). But first weekend of December is generally when it gets to be a lot of fun.

Our younger bucks have started to chase. Mature animal sighting are few and far between. We had the biggest acorn crop this year in Edwards county than I have ever seen before.

Howdy. My place is SW of Lampasas. Last Saturday there were younger bucks chasing does all over. One couple got lucky right under one of my feeders. The older bucks are staying in cover and definitely nothing large out in the open. I should note we only experience acorns about every three years.

When I hunted up there, all you had to do is drive about three miles on just about any road up there, and if you saw half a dozen fresh deer carcasses on the road, you knew they were moving at night.

I hunt just north of Lampasas, and the berms are carpeted with deerskin. Pity to see so much protein go to waste.

Seen a few dead in bandera county but not a lot moving overall.

Last week didn't see a deer till 8:30 in the morning

Headed out as we speak but not expecting much

Rut is in full swing in San Saba County. The deer's patterns are all messed up. Every day I'm seeing bucks cruising through in the middle of the day, even hitting some of the feeders mid day. Bucks are chasing everything that moves out there. The 10 point I shot last weekend came busting through the woods running the girls the night before I got him. Make no mistake, at least around here it is sexy time. I've seen at least 8-10 bucks in the last week or two I've never seen before. They are on the move.

We saw a few deer this evening but they were moving late, after 5:15

Good. I'm hoping the cooler weather this weekend will really have them moving. I always try to do my serious hunting down there the week before, week of and week after thanksgiving. The rut usually happens at some point during that time.

Mason/Menard line had a lot of bucks chasing does. I saw a lot of mature deer, at feeders and all over the place. Fun to watch them this time of year.

Rut is in full swing but the warm temperatures and abundant food seem to be slowing deer movement. It appears that we are not going to have a well defined rut across the Menard area.
Adios,
Gary

Young bucks are starting to be interested in chase. Mature still slow to start. Still seeing some during the day though.

My hunters had a tough time because the Bucks are running the Doe they can push up pretty hard. I watched 7 good bucks chasing one doe yesterday morning. The movement has been quick, about 30 minutes in the morning and much the same in the evening. Let's hope this front changes things for the better.

Sitting in the bunk house going through pics and I look out the door to see a nice 10pt strolling up to camp to check out my dog. My rifle was in the truck and I didn't even have shoes on. This was around 1 today. I wasn't going to hunt this wind too hard today but I've seen bucks moving and cruisers on camera this week.

Was in horseshoe bay today, rut is definitely on. Tongues dragging the ground running the girls to death.
