how is the rut progressing in mills co. i heard it had started the week on opening weekend not sure not alot of activity my way

It's been going on for the last 3 weeks. We hunt north of G'waite and been down there 3 of the last 4 weekends.
Young deer stopping by feeders but acorns are still falling. Even in the heat last weekend they were running does all over the pastures.
In-laws live on the place and watched several buck running does below the house.

Saw lots of bucks cruising, had a near-mature buck work a line of does Saturday night. I think it's just picking up for us, SE of Goldthwaite. Will be there this weekend.

I saw some activity last weekend west of Goldthwaite. I expect them to be moving around pretty good this weekend.

Saw two mature 10s locked up with does today. Several other chases, and bucks working scrape lines hard. It's pretty hot and heavy this weekend.

Yesterday (Sunday) driving 2025 just N of Golthwaite I saw a BIG mature buck hanging 20-30 ft from a doe in a field about 1:30pm. I also saw (5) different groups of does/bucks on 16 between Golthwaite and San Saba feeding in fields midday. FULL RUT!!!
