Hunt on the edge of Stephens and Young counties just south of Graham. Weve never seen turkey there. Lots of Sandhills, dove and a covey here and there of quail but no turkey. Any idea why that could be?? Have feeders out for deer and couple of winter wheat fields bordering us

I'm south of you closer to Caddo... Have always had plenty of turkey, even watched some roosting up next to a feeder pen this summer. Oddly, opening weekend there were none to be seen or heard. Same thing with the pigs this fall; I'm pretty sure that the acorn crop has a seasonal affect on their hangouts, but long-term, dunno.

There are plenty in the area your hunting. My guess would be you have no roosting trees on the place your hunting.

Just north of you in Murray and have a good many that come onto my property in Spring and will get a few in Fall/Winter too. Are all of your feeders penned?

I am in NE Stephens County just about 1 mile south of Young County. We have turkeys, however I have had my feeders penned with Hog panels for the past several years and have not seen near as many turkeys on my place. My turkeys are too stupid to jump over the hog panels into the feeders. Any ideas on what I can do to improve turkey hunting, yet keep hog panels up. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I keep one feeder unpenned and that is the one the turkeys hit as well as hogs and deer.

no feeder fence. the no roosting trees sounds right. theres lots of land around us with little or no pressure. might not be much we can do to get them in

Just drop a few panels on pens after deer season. We have a mixture of fenced and unfenced and plenty of turkeys. They roost on our place regardless of feeders though.

My friends place is SE of Breck abt 8 miles, no creek but has plenty of turkey. No one hunts them though.

I'm just north in Throckmorton Co. They come on our place from time to time, shot one out there a few years ago. Father in law was out there a month or so ago and said they had heard a few down in the creek bottom of our place.
