Typical Bass Pro prices. That's why I darken their doorways only once every ten years---and never looking for gun-related stuff.

Southwest Ammo in mesquite had a bunch awhile back. $185 for an 8-pound jug. I picked one up even though I don't even have creedmoor dies yet.

Yikes! Those are some high prices on their shelf. $43 a pound with tax. Heck you could just about cover the hazmat tax with that. Believe I'll stick with Southwest Ammo myself.

One shot is all it should take.

I seen the prices the other day as well. Varget and a few others were the same price.

I can't think it to be a good thing in the long run, but let's hope they don't destroy the brand.

Most powders at my local bass pro are right around that same price! Couldn't believe they were that high!

Guess they have to pay for Cabela's some way. Hope this pricing doesn't spill over to both stores. Might make hazmat fees seem cheap

Issue is when I go to Bass Pro to buy several boxes of a brand of bullets / powder I liked, the lot numbers don't even match between them, you usually see 3 or so different lot numbers which is not appealing for me. I rather buy a few pounds of all the same lot number, same with bullets.

I just left a local gun shop, small town pawn shop, price was 42.99 plus tax.

I just bought a bunch for $26 a pound online. Had to pay Hazmat and shipping but no tax and the price was worth it.

If I'm standing there looking at several pounds of H-4350,reasonably priced, and they're all a different lot number, I'm going to buy them. And when I get home, Im going to our them all in a bowl and mix them, making one lot.

Wonder if a vibratory tumbler would work well for that?

No! The tumbler tends to build up static.

Whatever you use, make sure to check for and discharge any static first. Been a few ammunition plant fires due to static sparks.

Keep it simple. Use a steel bowl and wooden spoon to mix and refill.

Also, wait for a day with high humidity.

Going to start another thread, but here is some basic info from SAAMI.

Why a steel bowl? Steel is a electrical conductor, will a plastic 5 gallon bucket work? Can you use your hand to mix powder? I am just curious of pro and cons.

The key is to avoid a material that builds up static electricity.

Could be a wooden bowl.

Glass and plastic seem to build up static more than steel kitchen bowls at my house.

The wooden spoon is unlikely to generate a static spark.

FJG,

if you have an empty 8# jug, put it in that as another option.

I don't throw away eights.

You know I'll make a stir-er for the drill, though. smile

This might do it Jason.

I've used a similar one for mixing concrete. Not positive as to blending powder. Another idea is to screen it. I used to make fireworks and that's one of the best ways to get a complete blend is to run powders through a screen a number of times. Could just hold out for same lot number too though.
