Never see Aoudad on our place and happened to see a group of about 20 and managed to get a shot on this one. Question is, is it trophy enough to do the full half body mount or is it not much of a ram?

Personally, at a minimum, I shoulder mount any male animal I kill with antlers/horns. If I am not willing to spend the money to shoulder mount him I won't kill him. I did kill an aoudad ewe this year and had her skull cleaned and now set on a table in my office.

That's a pretty nice ram. Nice heavy bases. I'd do a shoulder mount at a minimum. The do make a cool half body too with the long "chaps" on the front legs.

I faced the same decision a few years ago. I went with a shoulder mount. I have no regrets and am very pleased with my decision. I think I would have regretted the few dollars saved if I had gotten a euro. I my opinion a part of the trophy quality of a sheep is the chaps.

Another option, which I have had done with a big Aoudad ram. Pedestal mount, straight on position or quarter turn, mounted on a pedestal or upright section of a large log sawn flat on the bottom.

I think you miss so much if you don't have the front legs included in the mount. It's very unique to Audad, and for me, not an option to do it any other way.

I agree with EddieWalker, mount it half body so as to get those chaps in the mount. It looks trophy enough to me for a free range aoudad.

You don't need the legs to keep the chaps. Google image will help educate.
I think the 1/2 body looks weird. Shoulder or full body for me.

If you have the space in your house I'd go with the 3/4 body mount. Although they do have a new body form that's closer to a shoulder mount except it goes down the front legs a little farther than a typical shoulder mount so it allows you to show off all of the chaps. I had my first one 3/4 mount when I had only planned on shoulder mount. But that was due to finding other hunters bullets in him and it deformed his front leg where it did not bend so I though it was kinda cool to leave it and add extra conversation to the piece. Even with only three working legs he still was at the top of the mountain and had a big group of ewes he was tending to.
