Looks like the standard coyote to me. I think its the shade/lighting making him look dark on the back.

I thought that at first but after zooming in it looks like that is his fur to me.

Killed a couple like that and both had really good thick hair. My buddy killed a black one in Ohio with a bow and a week later killed another one in Virginia with a shotgun. Some people have all the luck.

Yote/Shepard X or a Melanistic Yote, though I've never seen melanism affect only the face and half the coat? I vote healthy yote blowing its summer coat.

I've seen some black ones multiple times where I hunt. I have always sort of doubted the cross breed thing since coyotes are so timid, but apparently that seems to be the case.

Shot a black on about 2 yrs ago with a shotgun. He looks really healthy these days in my living room
