Shot my first hog with my new thermal scope just 2 hours after sighting it in. Just got the Pulsar Trail XQ38 and I'm loving it besides the fact that Pulsar is still trying to work out the audio issue. I'm hoping that they come out with a Firmware update for it soon, but the picture is great and I love the internal video recorder. This lonely boar and I walked out into the field at almost the same time and as soon as he looked up at me I gave him a big Texas Howdy right in the face with my .223 and 62 grain Maker Overwatch Field ammo...

Nice, man I wished I could dish out the cash for one of those bad boys. Changes every spectrum of night hunting.

The XQ38 is more of your mid-range price scope at around $3,300, still very expensive for a piece of hunting equipment. But, this scope has many of the same features that the $5K scopes do.

Good shoot on the hog!
I wish $3300 was mid-range for thermal scope, LOL.
The Pulsar Trails (XQ) do have many of the same features that $5000 scopes (e.g., Pulsar Trail XP, all the same firmware features, in fact) have and the Trail line in general actually has some really neat features that no other brand of scopes in the general civilian market. Pulsar really does have some interesting firmware and they do a good job with it for the most part. For that matter, so does the lesser priced Pulsar Apex line of scopes. When first introduced, they were chock full of neat features other scopes didn't have and the Trail line has built on this platform. Pulsar makes a good value product.
From a shooting standpoint, I don't think anybody else has a better reticle selection or has reticles as fine as Pulsar. Compared to Pulsar, most other brands of thermal scopes have thicker reticles that cover up more of the target.
I just wish Pulsar would branch out into higher end scopes.

Hey! Cool video. Nice shooting. I've trying to talk a friend into buying a thermal sight. I've been talking up the XP50, but I'm going to show him your XP38 review also. Looks like it's working well for you! Keep After 'Em !! --
