Finally got the pics from my buddy, we were moose hunting and I sprung for a $250 bear tag but this bear simply would not cooperate with getting shot.....

Any of you guys who actually hunt bear care to guess body weight?

For scale- those logs are 14-16" diameter and he had no problem throwing them around like linkin logs.

I think 350lbs is just about right. A few things large bears have in common is their ears will look too small for their heads and their bellies almost drag on the ground. A bear with both these traits will often be 450+.

Other clue is the height of the top of the back at the shoulder. 14-16 inch logs puts the top of his shoulder at 32-34 inches. A really large bear will push 38-40 inches at the shoulder. 55 gallon barrels that are upright are 33.5 inches high. A 500+ monster is often tall enough he can eat food off the top of the barrel with all 4 legs on the ground and without having to lift his chin.

Sorry for overestimating. He looks huge. I've seen 300lb hogs that look half his size

Yes..... FYI Moose hunting is a lot of work and not for everyone; things get REAL when you have an 1,100lbs animal on the ground.

This is a hind quarter and for scale I'm 6'3 285 lbs

350-400. I took a 405 in Ontario back in Sept but have pics of three others that outfitter and a PH say go 550-650 each. They were remarkedly very very much larger.

Love those old buildings, my mom lived in an old converted carriage house built in 1820!

Dayum, that looks like one hell of a workout. Bet the back, quads, hamstrings, calfs and feet were all barking for a week nuts
