How come some 'Yote hunting lights are green and some red? Is it just a show thing or is there a real reason behind it?

You can use white/ red/ green doesnít really matter. Light intensity and the shadows created by bright lights are what spook predators. I have never liked the green lights but itís just a personal preference and I have used both white and red with equal results. I mainly use red because it makes the predator eyes easier for my eyes to pickup quickest. Now if you plan to use white or green you really need to have a reostat to control intensity and I do the same with red as well.

A rheostat controls how much voltage is sent to the load, in this case the led, and therefore controls the intensity or "brightness" of the light. I don't think there is any light a coyote can't see with the exception of IR and even then they can see the glow of the led at the source. I've used white, green and red over the years and have been successful with all. It's pretty much is a matter of preference. I don't use a rheostat but when scanning for eyes, I try to keep the harshest part of the light beam well above ground level and use the "halo" of the light to detect eyes then lower the light as I aim for the shot. Having said that, I have also had coyotes come in and sit down and stare right into the center of a 1 million candlepower white spot light, which by the way was a bad mistake.

Sure, you can ask, but do you really need to?
