My Uncle came out this last weekend and harvested a great 6.5 year old management buck. I had the deer estimated at 148ish but did not realize he had 6.5 inch bases and his smallest mass measurement was 4 0/8. On top of that he was 20.5 inches wide. His ears were 19 inches from tip to tip!!!.....Just a very large deer.

He live weighed 245 lbs. and scored 162 5/8....

You misspelled "trophy", it doesn't start with an "M". clap

Funny how he would be a trophy buck at our lease for sure. Management/trophy is in the eye of the beholder.

Mass doesn't "add" inches like tines do, but big mass will almost always alleviate ground shrinkage. I think it is an optical illusion, per se, in which everything else measures bigger than you estimate on the hoof. Massive bucks usually are wider, taller, and have longer beams than you give them credit for while field judging.

Congrats to your uncle on a great buck!
