Anybody done one? I thought the Shield had a nice trigger for a stock carry gun, but my FIL wants to do a kit on his.

I did one on a full sized M&P. I really don't mind the stock triggers, but did one just to see how it would turn out. Maybe with a trigger pull gauge you could tell a big difference, but I don't think there is enough to warrant the changes.

Did the apex kit and pull wise didn’t make much difference. Did get a little smoother but wasn’t worth $80

I did the full kit on my full size m&p, made a ton of difference. I bought a new shield this summer and the trigger in it is surprisingly fine. Tell him to lube it up and dry fire it several hundred times. After that, if it's still not what he wants, polish it and see what that does.

I think he's expecting a trigger like a 1911 with a custom trigger job. That's obviously not what the Shield was built for. I think it's got a great trigger for a small/medium carry gun.

I'll help him clean it up and we'll dry fire it a bunch and see if that improves it at all. He bought it new and it probably only has 50-60 rounds through it, so that might help.

Just an FYI...the PC Shield has a little better trigger than the stock version, and the new Shield 2.0 is supposed to have an upgraded trigger as well.

Good to know, thanks. I didn't even know they were coming out with a 2.0. The first version is pretty well perfect IMHO.

I went in thinking that as well, but after handling the regular and the PC side by side, I honestly couldn't tell much difference at all in the two triggers. I was all set to buy the PC but after that I thought I'd be happier with the extra $100+ in my wallet. I am pretty happy with the choice.

In before somebody tells you not to put a trigger kit on a carry gun because a lawyer will go after that and convict you of murder if you have to use it.
