I was drawn with my son, and son-in-law on Honey Creek SNA. I purchased my permits the day after I was drawn and made reservations at Guadalupe SP for my RV. I called Honey Creek about 10 days ago for some more information. Yesterday I get a phone call from a lady at Honey Creek asking if we planned to show for the hunt. I informed her we would be there barring an last minute emergency. I have never been called by a hunt location before. I have been drawn several times in the last 35+ years with 2 draws in the last 3years and never called to see if I was showing. Anyone else have this happen to them?

PP...Thats called Excellent Customer Service, making sure you are planning to come, either trying to get a handle on any possible Stand by spots, and a possible need to offer you a Late Arrival Hold for the Permit. Guad Rvr SP is on top of their game again...GTK.
Couple years ago when I got drawn for Inks Lake and got too sick to make the trip, the Hunt Mgr offered to hold my spot for a day to give me some time to get organized and on the way...and appeciated my phone call to cancel and give him time to plan a StandBy for my spot. Ron

I was drawn several years ago on Honey Creek and was just starting to plan it when my office decided we needed some mandatory office time, right in the middle of the hunt dates. So, i couldn't go but forgot to call the HQ. they called the day before the hunt started asking if i was coming.

I guess they are the only ones doing this. I appreciate that they are trying to make sure spots are filled. As I have stated before back in Jan 2016 My SIL and I were hunting Elephant Mtn. The staff told us the Youth hun the weekend before nobody showed or called. I hate to see chances wasted like that. I'm going to look back at the Draw hunts, but I thought that Honey Creek was not a stand-by hunt.
Went back and looked No Standby.

Hmmm??? Overflow Stand By's from Guad Rvr? I watched a Stand by Drawing one time hauling it in before they lockd the gate as we'd gone to HEB in Bulverde for some last minute stuff and were almost late getting back for the Hunters Meeting, but had already checked in. One of those SB guys camped near us and said he'd put in for Guad Rvr but was offered a spot at Honey Creek, if he wanted it. He took it.
I've been trying to get back to Guad Rvr for years, been there twice, and never been able to get drawn for Honey Creek. FWIW the high fence ranch just east of HC's entrance had the biggest Indian Black Buck I ever seen in the front pasture in those days...advertising the ranch's Day Hunt's I guess. Ron

Got one yesterday (11/2, Thursday) checking to make sure our group was on track to be at Alazan Bayou WMA next week on Wednesday. Super nice fellow, Bob. Bob has been a tremendous help and very willing to take the time to answer any questions. Anyway there's my update

Nope, several of the draw hunts I've been on the park employees acted as though they would rather not have the hunters there at all...

I got a call for my draw hunt in mid-October. It seems like they are trying to plan numbers for the hunts. I was one of seven that showed out of twenty. I'm sure knowing only 7 are showing up versus 20 is somehow beneficial for park employees.
