Well I took another stab at it. For over 40 years I have tried various side by sides and o/u's and never warmed up to any of em. I rigged up a 12 guage Beretta with left hand furniture this year. Going to give it another go but the jury is still out. Seems to be an itch I just can't scratch.

Years ago, used a Winchester 101 for pheasants in Kansas. Outstanding double.

I use a s/s for dove and an o/u for pheasant tower shoots. I also own three autos and a pump, and I use them in poor weather and rough conditions, but a double of some type is always my first preference.

I'm not active in the field these days, but my 1969/70 30" 12ga Winchester 101 seems to have some kind of guidance system built in. I have several other shotguns, but when I do get the itch, I reach for the 101.

101 for dove, and looking for an O/U for ducks
SxS is a safe queen since I don't hunt quail any longer

I use a double for quail. I like to have the 3rd shot when dove and duck hunting though.
If the trigger is gold, the birds will fold.

I have a couple of 12ga Uggies that fit pretty well. I’m going t order a 20ga Dickerson and the. Have all three fitted.
Love me some SXS.
I use one of the 12ga Uggies for pond hunting ducks when the weather is nice.
Thought for the day: Ducks were almost hunted to extinction long before camo was invented.

It doesn't bother me that I don't have a 3rd shell. I rarely miss and tripling ends the hunt too soon.

Yep, had mine since 1956, was my granddad's gun, only gun he ever had. I like to use it for quail. Never got tired carrying it. also shot many a crow with it, few squirrel and dove.

Good gun of that time..My first gun, with side locks and ejector, side by side. Was a bit on heavier side though.

I use a double for quail. I like to have the 3rd shot when dove and duck hunting though. Agreed... I used a red label for years but you cannot double tap nearly as well with an o/u. I actually just removed my plug on my affinity. Serious rabbit hunting needs more than 3 shots. I do put it back in for dove though

I inherited my dads old 101 20ga fixed chokes and use it for dove, pheasant and, when invited, quail (hint!). I found if I missed a bird with the first two shots I rarely hit it on the third (usually due to a poor mount). It is just a joy to carry and shoot. For ducks I use a 2ga net cannon... Oops, did I say that out loud? Actually, I have a 12ga Mossberg 1000.
No matter how high a duck flies a hammer still breaks a window.

all I need is 6 numbers and a bespoke 28ga sxs English stock w/splinter fore-grip dual trigger, 14.5in pull cast for left w/ a little extra drop and I'd be uber-happy...maybe a matching sxs rile in something suitable for Big 5, 500/416 perhaps.. and a barrel for plains stuff.. say 8x75jrs.. well and another barrel 6.5x 57 flanged for lighter critters... a peter hofer hummingbird for camp pests in 22 hornet to keep varmints at bay to round out the battery...

This one is a WW Greener 12 bore w/30" Damascus tubes, made sometime in the 1890's I've also got a Purdey bar-in-wood 12 bore hammergun and a C. Hellis 12 bore sidelock fowler gun in my personal collection.

I use a Stoager Uplander. It's got a beaver tail stock and came with a 20g barrels and a 28 g set of barrels. It's a meat gun...no select triggers or extractors but I really like it. I bought some brilley chokes for it and it does well. It's nice for property where your hulls must be picked up cause you have to extract them yourself. I was deadly this year with a mod and imp modified choke and number 6s. I used it for doves and quail mostly. When I'm really trying I use my 12g auto. It's not to often though. One day I'll stick with the sxs's and go get a really nice one.

I have Silver Pigeons in 410, 28ga and 20ga. I would like a Cynergy 12ga, one day maybe.
