Anybody else get this way? Every deer hunting season I start thinking "this will be the year of ____" and then try to fill in the blank. One year it was "firstborn" and I used the 1975 Ruger M77 in 7x57 that I got my first deer with. One year it was single shots, one year it was new calibers, etc. This year it will be a combination of new caliber and old friends- a Kimber Subalpine in 280AI, a Ruger #1 in 243, and maybe the Husqvarna 9.3x57 bolt with iron sights.

Yes, lately its become more about "which gun do I want to shoot" as apposed to "am I going shoot something."

Have not decided on main rifle yet for opening weekend, but am thinking 1961 Model 70 FW 30-06 I picked a couple years ago and have never shot, wears a vintage Redfield Wideview scope. Other than that would like to put a hole in something with an orginial Longbranch Mk1 No 4 .303 that I worked up some loads for last year then missed the same deer twice with it at the tail end of season. Also, maybe finally kill something with a Ruger SBH 10.5" barreled 44mag that doesn't get enough use.

I have seral rifles I have never killed a deer with. Last year I started taking a new one every weekend. only shot a doe and a buck.
Doe was with new 300 win. Hope to get one with my M1, 303, and 45-70 this year.

I'd really like to kill another deer with my old Marlin .30-30. I killed my first deer ever with it. Rifle belonged to my great grandfather.

On the other end of the spectrum, I've got the 6.5 creed I'd like to kill something with this year.

Cow elk lungs 465 yards.
One minute later, cow elk brain stem 515 yards.

I could only kill coyotes and hogs until next November and still be happy.

It's O.K. if y'all want to hate me.
