Well, I just picked up a new Noveske upper in .300 BO. Generally speaking, I haven't been too impressed with the field reports with the BO, but the Barnes 110 appears to do a good job and I needed something with moderate recoil to avoid damaging my NV scope. This is my first Noveske product and I've got high hopes for the unit. Any fans or haters of Noveske?

I've got 2 Noveske based rifles and 1 fully built Noveske. All my ARs that I have built use Noveske barrels.

The logo looks slick. Years ago they looked ahead of the game.

Now though if I built another one it'd be just their lower and if 300BO then that 8" barrel, otherwise I'd use parts from other manufacturer's to save money and possibly better quality in some instances.

They make a good rifle, BUT.... The issue I've had with them, as well as others, is Noveske (and Wilson Combat) run a minimum SAAMI spec match chamber with their blk out rifles. What this means is, the chamber is cut to minimum tolerances (very tight), where most firearm mfg's run a max chamber. The difference between min and max head spacing on the blk out chamber is .006". The problem is if the ammo you are running is between min and max spec (which is often common), the ammo will have issues chambering or will chamber tight. Because of this, I redesigned my 300 Blk Out brass. The blk out was designed to utilize existing 223 brass and cut it down to 300 blk out. Going from 223/5.56 brass to blk out, the brass is thicker at the neck and shoulder of the sized blk out case. When you size this thicker case to blk out brass to normal SAAMI size case and when you seat a bullet, it pushes out the shoulder by several thousandths of an inch. This is just enough to take your sized brass that was to spec, and push it over the min spec. The few thousandths you gained in the shoulder from bullet seating, is now over min spec, and won't chamber in the Noveske and Wilson barrels. I redesigned my blk out brass sizing because of this issue.

Since these rifles run a match, tight chamber, you can also get slightly higher speeds, compared to most AR's that run a max size chamber (less room in the chamber with the same amount of powder). Why you would take an AR battle rifle and run a tight chamber, I'm not too sure. It seems counter productive to me. Most shooters run these rifles suppressed, and in the blk out with a larger gas port pushing a lot of gas back into the action, it will dirty up the action very quickly. I can go about 100, maybe 150 rounds before I have chambering and cycling issues and have to clean my AR. Because their chamber is tighter, it will certainly get dirtier much faster, and require more cleaning for reliable chambering. I have spoken to many Noveske and Wilson Combat 300 blk out shooters, and this is very common. The tight match chamber "should" in theory be more accurate (even though mine shoot freakin' awesome already with a max chamber), but at the cost of chambering issues and dirtier rifle. But yes, they do make a nice rifle. I'm just not a fan of the tight match chambers in an AR platform.

That's really great info, Chad. I certainly agree with you about min specs in a duty rifle. Fortunately, this upper is intended for use only on porcine invaders, but I'll be sure to pick up a Wilson case length headspace gauge to verify my reload dimensions.

To be honest, one of the deciding factors for me in this purchase was that the rifle comes with a SilencerCo mount factory installed and I've got a 7.62 Specwar. I'll only be shooting supersonic and, in theory, this setup should be pretty much plug-n-play.

I'm a fan of their polygonal barrels. I have had 3 and all are great shooters. The first two were 5.56 (18" and a 7.5" sbr) and my latest one is in 6.8 is a 10.5". up

Digital is much more tolerant of recoil than conventional NV, particularly Gen 3. Since one of the major vendors of NV gear is well known for the most marginal of customer service, it really is best to avoid pushing your luck when you use one of their products, as I do.

That's about what I thought. FWIW, I found an exceptional deal, especially when you factor in the SilencerCo mount, and that helped make my decision.
