Tough call. Would be nice to see what he turns into next year either way I'd never call that a cull

Not that young in my opinion, but he does have great character. You might give him another year.

I'd shoot, but I think the AR would be an issue where I currently hunt.

Really like his character and his beam tips almost touching. He's a middle-aged deer so I would let him go. He won't ever get this big, but I have a 221 I killed that has a 13" inside spread.

Middle aged deer with potential IMO. He has the traits to be a relatively high scoring deer but won't ever be wide. I like mass and tine length, so I would leave him.

He would die of old age in an AR county.

He would die of old age in an AR county. which is fine with me as long as the overall herd quality keeps improving

Had one that looked a lot like that a few years back. Watched him at 3 and 4 then he disappeared for two years and another member shot him at 7. He was almost the identical size at 7 that he was at 4. Of course your results may vary...
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

He would die of old age in an AR county. which is fine with me as long as the overall herd quality keeps improving I agree 100%. We've had our current place for 4 years now and we never see anything but tall narrow racks. I'm no biologist but I honestly think narrow racks are just a genetic thing and no amount of "letting them grow up" will make for wider racks. I know the subject has been argued here before but it's JMO.

The problem is that our place is right off the highway and most of the does stay on the other side of the highway so come rut we usually see all our big mature buck laying dead on the highway. They don't usually make it very long. Either they die on the highway or our neighbors shoot them.

What in the world would make you think that is a cull? Let me show you a deer that looked just like that at 3.5 years old and I killed at 6.5. 8 point main frame with mule deer forks. This buck is low fence non protein feed. He ended up scoring 184 and change. Let that deer go a few more years and you may have a monster on your hands.
Let'em grow old

I'd definitely give him another year or two. We had a similar buck last year, 12" spread, scored in mid 130s I think, and the ranch managers son hunted my stand and shot him. I'd have passed on him for another year but it was by far the biggest buck this young man had ever shot so it was a good thing.
