Nice gesture but won't really affect that many people. State workers will probably have to give up another holiday to take part.

Opening day was two weekends ago. As a fellow bow hunter, I hear you................but most small towns that benefit from deer hunting will tell you when their bread is buttered and it starts the first weekend in November. I think my favorite part of opening weekend is observing the volume of trucks, ATVs, trailers, etc. headed West on I-20 as I head to our place. If it were a named Holiday, it would be my favorite one and it's not even close.

As mentioned by sooners, it is interesting to see the vehicles with everything from atv's to feeders and deer stands going west at the intersection of hwy 16 and 29 in Llano. I always wonder about those just setting a blind the day before deer season starts.

Weird story. It starts out asking Abbott to proclaim, then goes on to say he DID proclaim. WTH

I thought the same thing, a little late to start throwing corn like that.

As a young man growing up in Michigan, Rifle season started November 15th. Schools were always closed. I went to Grad school in Ohio and that's how it was there in the late 90's and early 2000's.... don't know if it is still but was in the area I was in
